Agree, the strategy is to obfuscate.

Fire too many, then reinstate a select few, leaving the impression that the problem was solved.

But none of the problems since Jan have been solved - especially *THE PROBLEM* of a lawless White House.

Nothing is fixed until we rein in a lawless President.

Seeing a lot of celebration of this as a win.

But at NIH we have seen this exact play before.

It looks like it is the Vought strategy -and to stop the lawless firings we have to see the bigger picture.

Pritzker: "You just heard a tidal wave of lies from the VP. It's a bit shocking. And you heard over & over him just making things up. There's a reason why the judge here in federal court said that they admin lacks credibility and why even the Nobel committee chair said the admin lacks integrity."

The Trump administration on Saturday scrambled to rescind layoffs of hundreds of CDC scientists who were mistakenly fired on Friday night in what appeared to be a substantial procedural lapse.

Per CDC source: At internal leadership meeting this afternoon, it was shared that 1,257 people were RIF'd at CDC. Number may not be final. Apparently, chief of staff was unaware that RIFs were going to occur so not clear who is making decisions. (Short 🧵)

Policy, comms, ethics, and science management (the people who clear science docs — determine whether they meet scientific standards) heavily hit.

After Trump got his Covid shot, he chose to fire the scientists protecting the rest of us from diseases.

You would not fire these people—including the staff of the hugely, HUGELY important 'Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report'—if you cared at all about public health, if you wanted people to live.

And you would not let your thuggish henchmen fire people like this if you were a responsible president.

Doctors and nurses and scientists — people who’ve dedicated their lives to advancing public health — are befuddled, stymied, and demoralized by the Trump administration’s extra-constitutional determination to stop American medical research in its tracks.

Donald Trump is not a king — and his administration is not above the law.

Today, the court confirmed what we all know: there is no credible evidence of a rebellion in the state of Illinois.

And no place for the National Guard in the streets of American cities like Chicago.
