Hey, pinned posts!

I'm Brite and I run/am MrGWillickers Studio where I make cool props and awesome accessories by hand, primarily - but not exclusively - out of foam
mrgwillickersstudio.etsy.com

I'm also a freelance TTRPG author with handful of credits in Pathfinder 2e, GI Joe RPG and more
A collage of handmade items. Starting top left going clockwise, multicolored d20 coasters, foam koozies made to look like wooden tankards, a dice chest that's a mimic, a goblin dogslicer short sword, a giant bastard sword from Pathfinder

But yeah, his inability to understand that adults mostly read those comics and it's not on the creator to keep kids from reading things they shouldn't, and having Dr. in front of his name, really convinced a lot of people that comics were trash
mrgwillickers.bsky.social
My favorite bit is that he claimed 95% of children in reform schools read comics, which proved their bad influence.

But other statistics of the time show 98% of public school children read comics, so by his logic, they actually prevent juvenile crime

I remember reading a bunch of pre code comics in college and being pissed at how good they were and how terrible they were for the next 30 years

(Plenty of good stuff in there, but still)

Then when I found out about Seduction of the Innocent it was nice to have a name to curse
mrgwillickers.bsky.social
I could hear the spite you put on his name even through text (deservedly, fuck that guy and his pseudo-freudian junk science )

I was thinking more about this.

There's probably thousands of actual artists who worked really hard on this movie: set designers, prop makers, costume, makeup, character design, 3d artists, etc, etc. Many of whom probably truly believed in their work.

And that somehow makes it more offensive
mrgwillickers.bsky.social
But my hate doesn't even stem from my love of the source material, the whole movie is just offensively bad.

Like, when someone tries to make something good and fails, that's still art.

This was so much worse because it was 320 million dollars spent on never meant to be good

I was so pleasantly surprised by the Tales from the Loop TV show that I held out hope, despite knowing there was no way Chris Pratt was gonna start in a quality adaptation of Stålenhag's work.

It was honestly made worse by how they included a few exact replicas of his shots, but bad

I will never know, because I think another over produced garbage fest with annoying "humor" powered by paycheck actors and mediocre homages to much better visuals will do too much SAN damage for me to take.

But yeah, they really know how to throw away money these days

For some unfathomable reason, I decided to spend my precious free time watching The Electric State movie, and I feel like I should pay a fine for how poorly I treated those 2 hours of my finite life.

Ok, I finished this today at 7-8am after a maddening last week crunch and I'm too exhausted and frustrated to update the whole process, I need to rest urgently, and couldn't take decent pictures, but... a preview of a hopefully much better look on 2 weeks

Pic front slightly towards right side of a black leather cuirass and corset. Both moulded for a female body type, thin waist, prominent hips and breasts, even though it's put on a male mannequin. Japanese inspired decorations tooled and embossed at the front (a quince branch on the cuirass, Nobunaga's emblem quince flower on the corset) and painted in golden Pic 3/4 left side and front of the same pieces, cuirass stitched in barely visible black thread, and corset stitched with a decorative braided stitch in golden and black lace Total lateral pic, the volumes more visible as well as the straps at the sides, also decorated in a golden tooled border with golden rounded buckles and rivets Really close pic of the quince branch at the front of the cuirass, very detailed and small, milliliter sized flowers and leaves, the branches textured

A while ago, sadly.

That's one that never should've happened, but the FTC can barely be bothered to stand up to Sysco or Luxoticca, they definitely don't care about ttrpg marketplace monopolies

I've made dice with a friend's ashes for his wife and friends.

The hardest part was honestly getting the ashes not to sink to the bottom, but otherwise it worked great

I've been a long time member of @printinkling.bsky.social's Imaginary Order of Game Masters, and now you can join too, or show off your membership, with new koozies!

Durable foam, will keep your drink cool while you sweat out that TPK

Oh, 1000%
If my rent and heat were covered, I'd be a lot more comfortable doing dumb art shit full time instead of having a part time job

Nevermind that they also get health care
mrgwillickers.bsky.social
That's equivalent to the Irish minimum wage for ~24 hours a week, or about enough to afford rent in a cheap area and not much more (according to internet statistics)

And yet we still thinks it's amazing because it's so much more support for artists than this shithole country will ever manage

Now I just gotta find someone to pay me to do it.

The wait is over! My "Support Human Artists!" linoprints are now live on my Etsy shop, along with a matching sticker and two new sticker designs!

These prints are available in five different colors: black, blue, green, red, and purple.

Get them here: evergreenphoenixshop.etsy.com/listing/4368...
A white hand with red fingernails holds up a postcard-sized piece of white paper with a design printed on it in black ink. The design is that of a fist brandishing a pencil, along with the words: "SUPPORT HUMAN ARTISTS!" A set of five prints with the same design as the previous picture lie on a wooden table. They are each printed in a different color of ink. From top left, they are: black, green, blue, purple, and red.

If you're a fan of the "Support Human Artists!" design, I scanned the linoprint and turned it into a sticker! Now you can show your love for humanity and creativity on the go!

Get them here: evergreenphoenixshop.etsy.com/listing/4369...
A copy of my "Support Human Artists!" print featuring a hand holding a pencil, and next to it is a smaller sticker with a matching design. Both designs are in black ink.

"no ethical consumption under capitalism" is not meant to be a get-out-of-jail-free card to just do whatever you want, but rather it's intended to make you think about where your money is going, and to generally encourage awareness

it's just about doing your best with the resources you have
