excerpt from a very odd short story i'm putting up for critique in my writer's group
Verna Ray, age 15

She ought not have laid with anyone in that abandoned gas station.

Brenda June, age 18

My boyfriend keeps listening to this evil album he found. He said sometimes it’s only played on porn sites because the guys who made it actually were sacrificing hookers to the devil on the bayou, and that they made the front cover of the album a painting from John Wayne Gacy as a hint that they worship death. Our baby keeps screaming at the wall. The baby wasn’t right, and it’s in a way I don’t want to talk about. He only communicates through screams. We keep him wrapped up in swaddling clothes so he doesn’t fall apart. I think it’s because he put that album on. He says the album is a hyper siggle for their cult. We decided one night to get out the weejee board and listen to it. I started having the baby right after we contacted somebody, something. It told me to name that baby Daxadax. We shortened it to Dax. The baby still screams.

fred frith, imagine the hot dog flying out of the bun you brought it in and flying on stage while he's shoving a drumstick under the 4th fret

witnessed a guy getting way too sloppy at the jeff tweedy show, which makes me ask - what’s the funniest solo project to make a fool of yourself at?

I will wear otis out for one day a year each year, just because I remember it being such a big deal and exciting based on what Kanye had been doing with the Good Music Friday drops, but that's the one for me.

found this velvet underground bootleg in a record store in asheville that includes the first time they played 'Sister Ray' and frankly this is what live rock music is supposed to sound like

I'm anti-whimsy, anti-wackiness. Do not ask me to be in a flash mob. I am not going to walk like an Egyptian

I have watched exactly two seconds of Banana Ball. I saw a batter dance, said 'no', and turned it off.

You're on the right track with the community/tribal impulses, but I'd argue that's sort of an inherent semiotics with the teams we support and how they're perceived.

You still listen to Phoenix? that's cute, danny brown is rapping over hyperpop now

The only good thing about Obama era indie music is it was so inconsequential and light it sent me running for shoegaze and hiphop and eventually metal/noise

A library director in Wyoming who was fired two years ago because she refused to remove books with sexual content and LGBTQ themes from a library's children and young adult sections has just been awarded $700,000 in a settlement. t.co/EA5L1kOZfV

What albums does everyone regret buying? Loads for me, but the one that really sticks in my mind is K by Kula Shaker, which I forced myself to listen to joylessly several times in the desperate attempt to convince myself I hadn’t wasted my money, and still get cringes of regret about 29 years later.

It's one of the few albums I regret buying.
I'll Manage Somehow and Stardust are fine. The rest is mostly forgettable.

I like maybe two frank zappa albums enough to listen to them once a year or so but he gets old rock guys so mad so he can stay
