The recipes vary, but basically any thickened pancake batter and enough oil in the pan will do. I also cut the apples into chunks rather than slices for no reason other than nostalgia.

I get it but I really dislike the "the political climate is tense" phrasing the same way I don't like the "Gaza war" phrasing - we're foregoing that one side is people who want to live and the other side is people who have more power and both the means and intent to destroy and harm.
