I really enjoyed running around after the credits, taking a victory lap and seeing how people were rebuilding after you save the world... but then it turns out the story's only half over because the actual Big Bad hasn't shown up yet

Like, journalists and pundits can watch a guy dousing gasoline all over an orphanage and go "what a fool, that's not how you feed orphans, look at the genius over here, thinks people can drink gas"

I think being a genuine, informed and effective hater is a noble pursuit; so it seemed suspicious that all the anti posts I saw were of the shallow "I always knew this guy was a piece of shit" or "Let's see his fans defend THIS one" variety. Dilettante hater behavior, IMHO.

...I hope that didn't come off as being a know-it-all: I only bring it up because when I started Esslemont's series, I was unfairly expecting it to be inferior in some manner, as though it were licensed Malazan fan fiction; which it very much is not.
