Southern type happily adopted by Masham (where I programme music and comedy at the Town Hall), by Yorkshire, and by @janrreed. Culture, quizzing, market town life, bit of sport, serendipity. He/him.

Our local Aldi staff are so dedicated to customer service and appearing delighted to work there I sometimes worry that it is a cult.

This is a Pixar movie. The little moon (Sabrina Carpenter) comes in to work-shadow the veteran actual moon (Meryl Streep). Streep is grumpy about it for the film’s first thirty mins. But by the end they’re inseparable and when 2083 comes we cry. While also learning about the need to let someone go.
It’s been going for a decade and 176 poems. Quite a talking point as we are outside the local nursery and by the steps leading down to the recreation ground!

I’m going to be the sole dissenting voice here. Not because Disney were right, but because Ben Solo / Kylo Ren is a deeply irritating character, reminiscent of Kevin the Teenager. All in for a Soderbergh Star Wars, but with a more interesting lead.
Adam Driver reveals he was developing a new Star Wars movie ‘THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO’ with Steven Soderbergh

• Was set after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

• Lucasfilm loved the idea but Disney said no — “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive”

As they say in cricket, if you’re going to flash, flash hard. Way more excited about this than the retired backup catcher who was Posey’s mate at college.

The EWStats team have had some time to kill during the postseason, so a few of us ended up creating this: The MLB All-'Star Wars Name' Team for 2025
Odd thing to have on one’s bucket list, but nice you were able to oblige
Have the day you need and a lovely next year ahead x
Interesting, I’m still in after reading that. The still from the lab looks like it’s from a 15 version of Hugo (complimentary)
Cant believe its been 1059 years since them slags shot Harold Godwinson in the eye with an arrow (maybe), still freaks my nut to this day
I only saw Crush Roller in one other place, on a teenage holiday in Torquay. I was chatted up by a local girl who was impressed with my paint-related fish-conquering ability. (Did not realise til many years later that it was chatting up rather than genuine interest in the game 🤦🏻‍♂️)
First and only: The Crush Roller arcade machine in the newsagent out of which I did my paper round. It was a pac-man derivative where you, a paintbrush, painted a grid while pursued by four fish, and occasionally animals would run around leaving footprints you had to paint over again.
Get well soon, but also we need more Celia Imrie banshee noises in quiz
I really like Brunton Park even though we never got a result on our 600-mile trips back in the day
(a) No you won’t, don’t be silly
(b) If you do, good riddance

This week's theme was London from a Window.

Hope you enjoyed it!

As it's Peanuts' 75th birthday, here's the final strip from 2000. It contains Charles Schultz's farewell message, dictated to Snoopy and published the day after he died.
