The big issue here is the railways are essentially free to take back into public ownership.

Water on the other hand would currently cost £50-£100bn, leave the Treasury to pick up the debt and then find additional funding to invest in infrastructure.

How can that possibly be done?

Public ownership of railways.

Greater Anglia services come back under public ownership today.

It now puts a third of all passenger journeys under control of the DFTO.

Dates for most other services to follow have been set and eventually services will transfer to GB Railways (following legislation)
