#India saw fossil generation fall in the first half of 2025, as clean power grew rapidly ⚡️🇮🇳

Clean power rose 40 TWh (+20%), outpacing demand growth more than THREE TIMES 📈

Coal generation and emissions fell, even as India’s economy kept growing.

Had forgotten that. Hmmm. Should I add ‘Medium of manifestation’ to my bio?

TFW you get to write a reference letter for a student you're so proud of, & who you just *know* will go on to do great things for their community.

Bell of a trumpet.

Well, now that you mention it, I *am* in London most of late October. (haha!)

🎉Happy @cambup-polsci.cambridge.org royalty statement day to all who celebrate! 🎉

One fun game is to divide your royalties by the hours it took to write your book. 🤑

At a certain point, the ALCS doesn't actually "start." The Jays just show up and take over a dugout from one of these teams and the game continues.

This is why I’m writing a book on apocalyptic politics.

Can anyone recommend a good political history of the early church? (Constantine to 500ish?)

Hadn’t visited X in many moons, popped back and … good lord in heaven.

Finally deleted my account.

That makes excellent sense. Thank you!

Remember early in 2025 when there was a plane crash nearly every day? Interesting that that just… stopped? I mean good interesting. But interesting.

Dawn wishes to remind you that it reliably follows Night.

Nestled in the St. Paul’s library and suddenly *overcome* by a sense of loss for...card catalogues??

I miss the tactile, the full physicality of library life. I miss being hidden in stacks. I miss dust. I miss random learned-looking spiders. I miss the smell of old paper. Paper made learning sexy.

Ah, the snail children. Take years off our lives.

Can’t help but wonder if the Not Being In Cars is both effect AND cause, right @toondreessen.bsky.social ?

Every day is a good day for reading Heine.

Ludwig Börne offering to spy on himself for half the price the police spy is being paid. (From Heinrich Heine’s book on Börne.)

And yet he knew that he was surrounded by spies, and he once said to me, "there's a fellow walking constantly behind me, following me through all the streets, standing in front of all the buildings I go into, and certainly is well paid by some government for it. If I only knew which government, I would write to it to say that I should like to earn the money myself, that I myself would submit a reliable daily report about how I had spent the whole day, with whom I had spoken, where I had gone; yes, I am ready to deliver this report at a much cheaper price,

In my already super neighbourly area, COVID only brought out more mutual care. Kids walk to school together. People greet crossing guards (who have treats for 🐕) by name. Those few in cars make room: for 👧🚲&🚙. My brother in Utah finds the difference in felt community so stark he wants to move home.

Watching antisocial driver behavior in the school drop-off line makes it really clear that the pandemic destroyed whatever few shreds remained of the social compact, just pathological selfishness on display every day

Mike Johnson’s position is young pregnant American women shouldn’t have to wait before being turned away to die in the parking lot from an ectopic pregnancy the hospital is afraid to treat
atrupar.com
Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."
