Graham Platner has deleted reddit posts defending people for getting SS (bolts) nazi tattoos.

He was also a Blackwater mercenary as recently as 2018.

there is no reason someone running for public office should have a nazi logo tattooed on their body, regardless of their past.

I was with 3/8, we never worked closely with west coast outfits but did relieve 3/7 in Ramadi, and they seemed like a squared away unit.

Almost all the dudes I know with them were from 8th and 6th Marines, and a few from 2nd. Definitely a unit thing, and more popular in certain battalions than others for sure.

God no. You could read through my post history and see that I'm pretty radically left.
But this is a specific culture that I am close with, and know intimately. I'm not being willfully obtuse, I'm explaining something that is far more nuanced than you're willing to understand.

every time I see a notable media person say something odd about the notable person who was killed this week, I remember how working at CJR taught me many white journalists find it easier to sympathize and empathize with right wing individuals than non-white journalists they actually work with
