Miss P only has two weeks of high school left. It's the end of an era and she and I are both a bit wibbly about it.
I just tracked down our year 9 first day of school photo. She was so wee! All excited and nervous in her brand new, slightly too-big uniform.

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.

The "cognitive decline and brain damage from repeat COVID infections" and "easy to use robot that makes slop and melts your critical thinking skills" is a hell of a combo in a post-fact media ecosystem

Do you think it's occurred to the Govt & Federated Farmers that farmers in other countries have lobby groups too, and this decision gives them an opportunity to lock us out of those markets? Maybe the regulatory impact statement will comment on this? 🙄

Also, would MFAT have had some input?

Yes, your brain would be mush even without the LC, so lots of grace is required for you in dealing with that as well any PEM impact from long covid.
Mr will also need to adjust his expectations.
It’s so tough on everyone.

That’s quite the take. Poor Ray Chung, victim of dark forces he was too naive to understand.
And not Ray Chung who sent a scurrilous email about a superior to his colleagues and doubled down when the email was exposed.

“Chung's bid for mayor was taken advantage of by those with an axe to grind about issues he likely didn't even understand.”

OPINION: How Ray Chung’s once-promising mayoral bid collapsed in a landslide defeat

He was so confident in mayoral bid he reserved a $90k Rolex. Here's how it went so wrong
OPINION: Once a front-runner, Ray Chung's campaign style and scandal sank his mayoral bid.

Yes, that’s a wild defense. The man is in his 70s and has been in the workforce for more than 50 years - he’s not some wide eyed ingenue being led astray by dodgy political operators because he doesn’t understand how the world works.

Post thesis is so discombobulating. I remember thinking I had so much time now so why wasn’t I achieving miracles? But all I really wanted to do was sit around reading and drinking tea.
It’ll take you a minute to let go all that pressure.
And then there’s the whole LC thing to make even more hectic.

Methane makes up 48% of NZ's climate pollution. The Govt's grossly irresponsible announcement today that they will never have a price on methane, combined with their policies to increase the dairy herd, means that they have zero intention of meeting NZ Paris obligations.

So good that she gets the chance to shine now. She’ll be running the house in a couple more weeks.

This is such good advice for the post project crash, and also for people with chronic illness. I never try to do all the things any more. I just do one thing (no matter how small) every day and follow it up with lots of praise and treats. Changing my vibe from shame to support has been life changing

How lovely.
Such a big change in a very short time.

They’re still holding on to that sense of their vast importance. But they‘re only 5% of GDP - they need a bit of perspective.

It’s been brought to my attention that it’s World Migratory Bird Day. I can think of no better excuse to share four of my best pictures of the undisputed king of migratory birds - the kuaka (bar-tailed godwit), which boasts the longest non-stop migration on the planet. Alaska-Aotearoa. 🪶🇳🇿

Rereading this thread and our group disdain warms my heart.
Another addition: spent about ten times as much as everyone else in parliament combined on domestic transport when he was leader of the opposition.

Holy moly. Disheveled, ill-fitting, vaguely sweaty seeming, and undignified - the essence of the man in one shirt.

The government knows this is bad policy because they've announced it on a Sunday.
The continued priority of short-term profit over long-term solutions is utterly shameful. Farmers will not be better off when the next cyclone or flood comes. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
Government lowers methane target, rules out methane taxes
The government is lowering its biogenic methane target for the next 25 years, a move opposed by the Greens and environmental activists.

I hope Labour point to this decision and the back down on housing regulations next time Luxon and Willis start wittering about bipartisanship.

Mind blowing.

The Luxon Government has confirmed it will rewrite NZ’s once bipartisan climate change law to dilute methane reduction targets and PERMANENTLY exclude dairy from the Emissions Trading Scheme – a move Greenpeace says amounts to full-blown climate denial.

It's so weird how they don't even bother to hide their contempt for the rest of us. They need us to vote for them after all.

Exactly. They always do. The ignorance and entitlement is wild.

There's no sense in it at all. They seem to be absolutely fine with burning everything down around us.
