Here's one for the memers and the dreamers: I wrote about Final Fantasy Tactics memes and art criticism for Stop Caring! Check it out!

New article is live on Stop Caring

This one from @otomeniki.bsky.social, who argues that Final Fantasy Tactics memes engages audiences in a unique form of reader-response theory. Which *is* art criticism, even if it doesn't *look* like art criticism.

Give it a read and a share!

Don’t blame Niki for all these Final Fantasy Tactics memes. Blame yourself or God.

its galumpin' dododops #itemLabelUnendingNightmare
An image of Galumpin Dops from itemLabel in a dark and scary rainy forest. The Dops are green, red, and purple, and they are wearing one yellow raincoat all together. They are labeled "&," "?," and "!."

The kids who get the game for the holidays might not even have the chance to get Mega Greninja if the online seasons are short enough🙁And launch players can't deposit the items into HOME to keep for a later save file...

For me, both Raichu's tail and ears are non-negotiable, iconic elements of its design. I've also always preferred Raichu over Pikachu. So the Megas essentially being "half Pikachu" and specifically over the ears and tail makes me like them less, unfortunately.

After seeing so much dislike towards Mega Dragonite's design, I'm surprised at how much people seem to like the Raichu Megas. Both feature big, "goofy" ears and tails that hearken back to their previous evolution.

This mentality really is everywhere. When I used to teach, some students thought that someone getting extra time on a test was an "advantage," that it made the test "easier" for them. Except that more time on a test doesn't make it any easier. That's not what accessibility/accommodations are about.

Grand Bazaar runs a rhythm similar to other games in the series, with some syncopation created by the weekly bazaar. Does this remake of the classic Harvest Moon game live up to the original?

"YT is applying post-processing to all shorts so they look more like Al. When their Gen Al Shorts feature launches users will be less likely to discern what's Al-slop & what's not; The audience will think Al is 'just as good'"

No essay for Stop Caring this month, but I am releasing this triple threat of personal updates/a call for pitches/a request for donations

If you are interested in writing for Stop Caring, please read this. I only have 4 spots available for the year, so the time to pitch is now/in the near future.
An Update + A Call For Pitches + 'The One Where We Ask For Money'
I think the title is pretty self-explanatory for this one.

spine is taking pitches again, ranging from short ($30 for 150-300 words) to longer form pieces ($60 for 500-700 words). *please* read the guidelines carefully, which now reflect the current monthly budget. i want to hear from bipoc and queer folks first and foremost.

Time to be livin' that #FantasyLife! 🐲 A rather great catch-all #RPG experience, even if it might lack depth in specific parts. But The Girl Who Steals Time will be a pleasant use of your time.

"You say you only used AI for placeholder text, but in that text was a response from the AI saying 'here's a revised version'. Here's what I don't understand - why revise placeholder text? You see my problem? It just doesn't make sense to me. Why revise something nobody was meant to see, unless..."
