It would be such a missed opportunity to not talk about the journaling game zines I've published on this platform where you actually see the posts by people you follow.

The Ink That Bleeds is about immersion and bleed and self care and...
A copy of The Ink That Bleeds and a copy of Be With Me, both journaling game / zines by Paul Czege.

How horrid these tech bro companies and venture capitalists are. If your business fails in a way that breaks the world economy you should go to jail.

“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.”

Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt.

Innovation in comics has never felt to me as overwhelming and exhausting as innovation in ttrpgs or innovation in fiction.

What's the most innovative comic you know?

Everybody cuts the sleeve down as the eraser gets smaller, right?
A white Staedtler Mars plastic eraser that's now about half its starting size, with its blue cardboard sleeve cut down to fit what's left of the eraser.

No shade to any of the Vertigo relaunch writers, but this is what the lineup looks like with me no longer in it, lol.

Good topics for a first date with someone who also plays immersive journaling games:

Ever murdered anyone?
Do you have a place that feels like home in your inscape?
Tell me about the worst villian you've ever contended with?
Ever died and come back?
Ever met a supernatural being?

I've seen that cover. I didn't realize it was your work. Love it.

Phenomenal, compelling worldbuilding, but I'd have to gird myself for its system or design a replacement.
The cover of Ruby, by Greg Saunders, showing a four-armed beast with fur, fangs, and bladed weapons, rushing at you.

It seems like a lot of them, maybe more than you're prepared to deal with?

I'm not sure what to do about that. You don't know how many more I have drafted and playtested that I know I want to make for you! One's a sequel to Inscapes, about making games your approximate self..

Two Raw Morsels
a journaling game by Paul Czege

They shackled Prometheus, the embodiment of foresight, to a mountain as punishment for aiding humankind and giving us fire and its secrets, where Zeus' eagle comes and eats his liver and tongue each day at dawn. It tears into him voraciously...

Who else is doing this jam!?

(I haven't done a jam in...two years 😱. I was doing so many before that. But I'm doing this one.)
A ttrpg header image sized for itch.io that says Two Raw Morsels: A Journaling Game by Paul Czege and shows Prometheus in agony with his side torn open as painted by José de Ribera.

rereading a novel from the 50s set in the 30s and i know this passage did not hit as hard when i first read it in the 90s as it does now
Photo of a passage from "The Watch That Ends the Night"

Jerome stopped and stared at me with incandescent eyes.

"Try and understand this-the fascists have brought back tor-ture, and torture calls for martyrs. And what else is fascism but the logical product of the capitalist system?"

"What do you mean—torture calls for martyrs?"

"Simply this. Unless a man is able to stand up and look the torturer in the eye and say, 'I'm not afraid,' torture becomes the way of the world. It's as simple as that."

"Is it really as simple as that?"

"No." He shook his head impatiently. "No, because underneath it all is the plain economic exploitation of a rotten world.
The communists are the only people who understand that. How can you pretend they're not one hundred percent right when they say that at a time like this the life of a single individual isn't worth a snap of the fingers? Wasn't Debs right when he said that so long as there was a soul in prison he wasn't free?

What does a single marriage count in a balance like that? It isn't easy being me. I know what all this means. [Highlighted sentence:] This evil inside the human animal-the fascists are charming it out like a cobra out of its hole and the capitalists let them do it because they think it's good for business. You think I'm abandoning Sally by leaving for Spain. I tell you, if I don't leave for Spain then I really do abandon her to a future of fascism and concentration camps."

Who's also struggling with SAD and and feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of small tasks to juggle every day? ✋✋

If you're interested in a tiny game that encourages mutual accountability through hexing your friends, keep a sharp eye out here next week... 👀
A small ad for a small TTRPG. The name of the game, AVERT!, is displayed in large text next to a logo of a stylized eye inside two circles. Below, explanatory text reads: "a bookmark game about mutual accountability and hexing your friends".

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
