It's #FossilFriday!

Something different from me this week. In November, @jackdaviesart.bsky.social and I are taking #KennethsArk, a #ComicBook we've collaborated on, to @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social. It's a 40 page short story rooted in my love of science-fiction and rocks.
The cover of a comic book titled "Kenneth's Ark" by Paul Evans and Jack Davies. The artwork presents an old bearded man, a robot and a dinosaur, against the silhouette of a looming, inhuman figure. A page from a comic book. Panels present the bearded man from the cover walking across a beach, finding a rock and hitting it with a hammer. A narrator talks about their reflections on aging. The comic continues, the man is now holding at the rock in his hands, it's cracked open, and there's fossils inside. Suddenly the cliff behind him starts to collapse, large rocks fall all around him. The Narrator continues to talk about their relationship with rocks, and how easily they can be interpreted. They then reveal that they are some 65 million years old. The last of the three pages, as the cliff-fall settles, the man starts to climb the fall, looking for fresh fossils, but something the rubble catches his eye. The narrator talks about having watched life on Earth evolve, but never interacting with it.

Britain is still living the consequences of the ideas Margaret Thatcher injected into British political discourse and policymaking.

BBC News explain that because of Brexit, Brits will be photographed and have their fingerprints taken when going into the EU, as the UK now is a third country

BBC News forget to explain that the UK helped create these rules when we were part of the EU because we wanted stronger border control

Dear people of the U.K. (ostensibly England and Wales)

Until you realise this country is fucked because of 14 years of terrible mismanagement in every way by the Tories….

You will end up with Reform U.K. Ltd (Tories on crack) running this country.

And you think it’s bad now?!

The solutions proposed for New Zealand's (and virtually every other country's) problems are always like:
"We need to make people work for more years"
"We have to cut back on services, I'm sorry, there is just no other way"
"We have to cut benefits for young people"

never:
"We need to tax the rich"

Not quite yet. The 'while stocks last' made me twitchy about this model, so I grabbed him first 😅

I spent ~5 hours last Tuesday with someone who subsequently tested positive for one of the new covid variants.

Currently managing an all round dull headache. Could be nothing…

So that's fun.

The UK would be a substantively more informed, critically enabled place to live, if everyone listened to More Or Less every week.
Does half the UK get more in benefits than they pay in tax?

It’s extraordinary that Biden’s main weaknesses were inflation and cognitive decline and now America has inflation and cognitive decline as well as tariffs, authoritarianism, blatant corruption, etc
