My friend has a huge Oak in her front yard with a lovely straight trunk, and I keep telling her if she cuts it now and gets it milled we'll only have to wait 2-4 years for it to dry properly so we can use it.

First comes the increase in Kiwisaver (which I broadly support, by the way, though I do think it should be 12% employer contribution and then whatever employees choose to contribute). BUT in my opinion this sets the scene for cuts to either the universality of Super or raising the retirement age.

You know, Labour could completely take the wind out of National's sails on Kiwisaver (which isn't altogether a bad idea) by saying "Yes we do agree Kiwisaver contributions need to increase, we agree to do the same."
