Any commentator who blathers on about right-of-centre politicians being ‘woke’ immediately forfeits the right to be taken seriously.
And asked if they *really* identify with the antonym.

Just disgusting. It’s rightly being widely condemned, but appalling we live in a climate where a gulpin like this can feel so empowered.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald was among canvassers threatened on a Dublin street today.

Gardaí were called over the incident, which happened at around 4pm on the city’s northside.

Finally managed to pull my initial thoughts on the British govt's Post-16 Education and Skills White paper into a blog.

I'm not the first to vent about adults being just an afterthought and the continued framing of adult learning as solely about 'skills'.

It’s so tiresome- being gaslit by the D4 establishment about ‘reconciliation’ being a prerequisite for reunification.

Miriam O’C parroting the nonsense talking point about the Irish language being ‘weaponised’ is a case in point.
As someone from the North living the South, it can feel b othering that so much of the election talk is about appealing to Northern unionists and virtually no recognition of the ongoing trauma inflicted on Northern nationalists. Yet another day in the British state being denied justice.
Some people on this island are voting to elect their head of state
Others are digesting the fact that their state deployed paratroopers as peacekeepers - an oxymoron in itself, who killed children in broad daylight & then frustrated justice to the point that it was impossible. Such a stark contrast
A bitterly disappointing day for our city. Justice denied, again.

It’s small comfort that ****** at least got to see the inside of a courtroom (albeit behind a coward’s curtain) - unlike those who sent him here.

There is no British justice.
A former paratrooper has been found not guilty of the murders of two men and the attempted murders of five men during the events of Bloody Sunday in 1972. jrnl.ie/6852291

Bad day for the rule of law. The state can murder you in front of witness, cameras, frustrate justice for years, oversee destroying evidence and then put it 53 year later before a jury less trial to give themselves the green light about it all. And I have to pay my taxes to fund it
T'was ever thus.

Though at least ****** got to see the inside of a courtroom (albeit behind a coward's curtain) - and has had to live with the possibility of being held to account for his actions.

Sadly, the same can't be said of those who sent him and his muckers to our city.

The UK media last week spent so much time banging on about a football match. Will they give the same amount of coverage to this ? I very much doubt it

"The Israeli Premier League derby between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv was cancelled by police after "violent riots" before kick-off."

There are MANY politicians who owe West Midlands police a profound apology.

List/tag them. 👇

BREAKING: The Israeli military says it has begun a wave of air attacks on southern Gaza as the precarious ceasefire comes under threat.

Unforced errors doesn’t even begin to cut it.
How has the government got itself into the position of standing up for Israeli football hooligans, while criminalising peaceful supporters of Palestine Action?
I see the pro-genocide grievance factory is in full overdrive about a football match that shouldn’t be happening in the first place.
Some thoughts about #AdultEducation across the island of Ireland: energy/momentum in the south; fragmentation/shoestrings in the north.

And with constitutional change coming, how to ensure adults aren't just an afterthought? #EducationPolicy #Think32 #BlogPost

"The underlying point is that, given the history, there was nothing like sufficient trust that the UK state could, or would, provide the safeguards and protections of minority rights in Northern Ireland, and that remains the case today."

This is grim & dangerous over reach.

This is a government that have lost the moral argument & are still selling arms to Israel. Now further cracking down on dissent.

Absolutely the opposite of what they should be doing - so of course this is what the Labour Government choose.
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.
How many times does this need to said!
You can protest against Israel’s genocide in Gaza and unequivocally condemn the antisemitic terror attack in Manchester.

Don’t let politicians or the media tell you that you can’t do both.
