Just so we’re clear: Labor is choosing to work with the worst possible party on environmental issues, instead of the Greens and teals who actually want environmental regulation.
And Watt is already admitting it won’t have a climate trigger …
Watt nears deal with Coalition to finally overhaul environment laws
Environment Minister Murray Watt will sit down with his Liberal counterpart Angie Bell today, with quiet optimism in both parties that a deal might soon be struck to finally rewrite Australia's "broke...

Sure thing, David Pocock doesn't belong in the parliamentary sports club. Those nerds will definitely do better sport without him.

"Climate action should be a big tent; we should welcome everyone in"

This sounds really nice until you realise you're inviting in the anti-tent lobby, whose entire job is destroy the poles and fabric of tents

Wild how up to its 👁️balls Scitech is in fossil fuel & mining sponsorships

Alcoa Foundation Digital Technologies Enrichment
Chevron: Lighthouse Maths
Mitsui Future Computing Program
Rio Tinto Innovation Central
Rio Tinto: DIY Science Kits
Woodside: STEM Club;Karratha Integrated Digital Technologies

Scitech (WA Science Museum) is sponsored by a few fossil fuel companies. Including Woodside who provide "free" access to STEM club for kids.

Free = access to educational opportunities in exchange for promoting Woodside. The cost to students is the loss of a liveable planet.

Good deal kids?
Screen shot of scitech website with their logo at top and text that reads:
"More Information

Through the support of Woodside, this program is provided for free* over the course of a Term to select schools, and is available for delivery to primary schools in the Perth metro region. Schools will need to provide a staff member to enthusiastically support the program.

*A $500 refundable deposit is required for delivery of this program."
Last line is struck out in red pen replaced with the text:
"* Program provided at no charge in exchange for promoting climate criminal Woodside. Cost to students includes the loss of a liveable planet."

I had not seen this. What a disgrace. Talk about a captured state and a totally captured institution. Scitech needs to sever all links with toxic industries including all fossil fuel companies.

I was shocked when I worked there as a science guide that we were explicitly not allowed to produce an exhibit on global warming and climate change. And we just... went along with it.

I only want it one way: A fast, clean energy transition. Woodside blocks this at every opportunity and they shouldn't be promoted by anyone who wants kids to have a safe climate.

So today I noticed that Hancock Prospecting is no longer listed as a major partner on Volleyball Australia's website.

I don't know who dumped who or why, but I wish Volleyball Australia the best. You will survive.

But Gina Rinehart also uses her billions to fund scare campaigns against climate action.

She's bad for volleyball

Global heating threatens to make outdoor sports untenable. AND elite sport will be a luxury we can't afford during climate collapse.

(good news at end)

When elite netballers took a principled stand against sponsorship by Hancock Prospecting a few years ago Volleyball Australia had a public grovel about how they LOVED being sponsored by Gina Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting and how great she is.

I'm making a climate banner for a balcony on a busy Melbourne road. Suggestions, votes or feedback welcome.

Ideas:

No New Coal No New Gas
No More Fossil Fuels
End Coal and Gas
Don't Cook the Planet with Gas
Safe Futures need Forests not Fossil Fuels

Newcastle Museum added to the Champs list as they don't have current fossil fuel sponsors.

They have a BHP gallery but it's about the historical role of steelmaking not a naming rights deal.

Glad Newcastle's cultural orgs aren't relying on a dying industry for funding!

i would again like to remind everyone that NEGATING A FRAME REINFORCES IT

"he's not really targeting criminals" makes it an argument about criminality

"this is a fascist attack" states what is actually happening

START WITH WHAT IT IS
not what it isn't

Folks this is your reminder that LNG is approx 1/3 MORE CLIMATE DAMAGING THAN COAL once methane escapes across the supply chain are counted. It is an egregious lie that fossil gas mining is needed for the energy transition; the exact opposite is true.
