I'm not going to go back on Twitter to find the (literally) offending article, but I'm convinced my ex-MP John Redwood had one of those.

Nobody should ever be forced to watch videos of your own MP's nose hairs.

Special mention must go to the genius designers of the Dell XPS 13 (at least, the model available about 4 years ago) where the camera was placed _below_ the screen #NostrilCam

Well that’s true too.

Conscious that there’s a lot of blame to throw at the lazy rich but that systemic upheavals would be morally the right thing to do (if bloody difficult) to move us far more toward a functioning welfare state, with mandated living wage and/or UBI, a working state pension

Certainly those who have wealth enough to “require” complex, often offshore schemes so that they pay the same or less tax than their minimum wage cleaner… yeah can’t say I have a lot of sympathy. Pay your fair share
pewtertankard.bsky.social
So long as we have delineate wealth (in the common usage sense of being wealthy) from the savings you’ll need to have when you retire to make existence tolerable (as the state pension alone doesn’t do that today and will only get worse)

I know not all pensioners are like that (am sure some are)

I really don’t know how a British-Palestinian like @laylamoran.bsky.social, someone so close to and personally affected by everything that happened, finds those reserves of empathy, while people with much less skin in the game take it upon themselves to strike the most strident pose.

As so often, @laylamoran.bsky.social finds gracious, unifying words.

"I choose to believe that peace is possible. Everyone who went on a protest, wrote to their MP, cares about it, shouted at their TV - from whatever point of view - what were those deaths for, if not for a sustainable peace?" ~AA

There is a good argument that Reform deliver exactly what they say, unlike some other parties

Labour seem to want to ignore the voice of organised labour
The Conservatives are anything but conservative
Reform are perpetually reforming before our eyes

Fascinating thread

The death of multi-camera TV: a thread. I know most of you will know the technical parts of this (and may have read it in the other place) but bear with me. 1/ 🧵

Well, Steve had a couple of days off and, according to the Department of State rota, he’s got the brain cell this week.

My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.
Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already.
It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.

He has lots in common with plenty of working people

Has multiple part time jobs. Sometimes works away from home (Clacton, apparently) for long periods. He’s always Russian (surely rushin’, Ed)

Yes Alex, why can’t you understand and appreciate a lovely old English word like xenophobia?

It’s all Greek to you, isn’t it?

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

There was a microsecond where I read the bullet point “US warns of damage to shared intelligence” as a moment of self-reflection and honesty from 🇺🇸 but that’s why you picked the four of them to represent intelligence, isn’t it? They can just about manage one syllable each of that word.
