What a week! Packed out theatres, fantastic audiences, and finishing the week catching up with my lovely friend Dana Goodburn-Brown. I’ve visited Bradford, Sheffield, Newcastle, Hull, Northampton this week. On to Nottingham, Leicester, Colchester and Truro next week!

And I think Cicero might have been rolling in his grave (or urn) at the particularly asinine non-assonant 3-word-salad of “hands face space”! A gem from 5 years ago.

Today is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day that should be every day of the year. You are worthwhile, and you deserve to be here.

10th October and it’s World Mental Health Day. Keep talking. Keep listening. Keep being kind (to yourself and others). We are Nature and I’ve found this is where I heal best. Love to you all.

And even when I am struggling, something incredible still happens. What appears on the page is often not what I expected, characters come alive in ways I didn't anticipate, scenes play out differently than I had planned, and it all becomes something both from me and beyond me.

I write because I love writing. I love writing even when I'm struggling with a writing problem that is killing me. Finding a way through that problem is both intensely rewarding and also helps me become a better writer. There is no reason for me to ever outsource that.

there’s this weird idea a lot of people seem to have about how all of us writers and artists must secretly want to use AI and are merely resisting temptation for ethical reasons, and like, no, it’s not hard for me to resist drinking the bowl of Piss With Glass In It actually

Reform councillor Francesca O’Brien chaired a meeting at which a Welsh far-right hate group spread ‘untrue’ claims about religious education, a Swansea primary school has claimed. The meeting centred on entirely unsubstantiated allegations that pupils had been forced to recite Islamic prayers.

This is devastating but hard to think of more important journalism. 18,457 children have been killed in Gaza (many more not accounted for). Here, The Guardian prints their names and beautiful faces and tells us what they were like before Israel stole their lives. www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...
Young lives cut short on an unimaginable scale: the 18,457 children on Gaza’s list of war dead

I’m back on tour with my new book DOMINATION this week - travelling to Bradford, Sheffield, Newcastle, Hull & Northampton. Expect plenty of monasteries, basilicas, hypocausts as I explore the end of the western Roman Empire and why it’s still relevant today!

This was great, do go and see it if you have the chance. Fascinating parts woven together into a compelling narrative that's surprisingly relevant 1500 years later.

Plus a photo of a dig dog. What more do you need?
