25. Technically a band, but the death of the singer prompted them to break up.

I like T.Rex a lot, but this song is my favorite. There’s a feeling of resigned disinterest to it. Almost as if it’s the sonic equivalent of lightning a cigarette and saying, “C’est la vie.”

24. It’s tough to say, “I wish this band were still together” because, generally, bands end for a reason.

That said: I discovered this band during quarantine, and just recently found out that the disbanded. They were fantastic, and I wish I could’ve seen them live.

I love TV on the Radio. I was home for Christmas back in 2006 when I first heard them. I fell asleep with the TV on, and woke up at 2am to see this video. It stuck with me, and I’ve stuck with them ever since.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

I’m trying to learn to just accept things from people, because I trust that no one in my life currently treats kindness towards me like a transaction, but it’s incredibly difficult.

It’s so ingrained in me that, while I can be appreciative, I’d rather do/buy things for myself because then I’ll owe no one.

Even now, I can’t accept a gift without insisting the giver accept a gift or favor in return. Years of toxic relationships has essentially made it so I operate on Fey rules.

A few months ago my therapist asked why I’m not into getting gifts/acts of service as shows of affection, and I finally realized it’s because those things have almost always had strings attached.

Not in a reciprocal sense, either, but just fully transactional. Like, gift/service = obligation.

Back in August a good friend and I went to see the band Ghost in Las Vegas for the first time. They didn’t allow filming in the arena, so this is us in line on the way in.

Vegas was meh, but the concert was amazing.

22. On the surface this is a breakup song. The writer says it’s about self deception, and maybe that’s part of why it’s helped me move forward all year.

This song is haunting and melancholic. There’s a finality to it that feels almost funerary, and I love that.

20. This is definitely one of my favorites from Ghost, and probably one of my favorites songs over all.

There’s a feeling of urgency and desperate need in this that I relate to. Like craving catharsis or something to ease the pressure of feeling and living day-to-day.

Y’all there are a variety besides “yeehaw cowboy” and “Georgian socialite.” Please learn one. As a western North Carolinian I can recommend the Appalachian accent whole heartedly.

I like ‘em a lot. They’re interesting little horror point-and-click adventure games with quick time events that affect how the game plays out.

Same publisher did The Quarry, which has mode where you can choose settings that affect character decisions and then watch it like a movie.
