And still I do not regret the kindness I showed to unfeeling ppl. No good deed goes unnoticed in the realm of the universe's gift.
I sow my seeds of good, but know when to move on from barren land.

people who are not afraid of their feelings or afraid of who they are. Ppl who do not live to satisfy societal dictates (real or imagined).
Of course my circle is small, but mighty.
Thank God for this.

One thing that growing older, gaining wisdom, and surviving child loss does is remove the need for external validation by others.
In the past, I have attracted emotionally detached ppl who wd have difficulty expressing or accepting authentic connection. Tragedy teaches you that u only have room for

Per CDC source: At internal leadership meeting this afternoon, it was shared that 1,257 people were RIF'd at CDC. Number may not be final. Apparently, chief of staff was unaware that RIFs were going to occur so not clear who is making decisions. (Short 🧵)

Jerusalem artichoke showing off in my vegetable patch this afternoon. It’s about 3 m tall!
A very tall plant with half a dozen stems and yellow, daisy-like flowers.

Fascinating interview with historian Miranda Spieler about her new book on the policing of slavery and enslaved people's lives in 18th-century Paris, the center of the European enlightenment. 🗃 #slaveryarchive

Climate(.)gov wasn't built in a day. It wasn't even built in a year. It is a big, complicated site that we don't just want to rebuild but also improve with Climate.us.

Realistically, this is going to take some time. However, we want to take a moment to remind people what it is that we...

Here's a snippet from the MIT president's letter to ED
Screenshot from link that reads: The document also includes principles with which we disagree, including those that would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution. And fundamentally, the premise of the document is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone.

In our view, America’s leadership in science and innovation depends on independent thinking and open competition for excellence. In that free marketplace of ideas, the people of MIT gladly compete with the very best, without preferences. Therefore, with respect, we cannot support the proposed approach to addressing the issues facing higher education.

I hope academics are paying attention 2 how departments are treating faculty/staff/students in these times.
And those in leadership who refuse to see the enormity of the chaos and what it threatens are failing in their ability to lead.
Some are using the time to make ppl less secure about their jobs

Times are really terrible right now/ I hate that they are.

However I was notified today that my manuscript in progress will be published by Louisiana State University Press.

The administration offer is a tempting one though: Big financial gains for any university willing to convert itself from a factory of ideas to a slaughterhouse of democracy.

Join us for a panel on responding to the rise of the far right and populist politics, drawing on observations from the United States and looking at how museums and museum workers are strategising.
