people who are not afraid of their feelings or afraid of who they are. Ppl who do not live to satisfy societal dictates (real or imagined).

One thing that growing older, gaining wisdom, and surviving child loss does is remove the need for external validation by others.
In the past, I have attracted emotionally detached ppl who wd have difficulty expressing or accepting authentic connection. Tragedy teaches you that u only have room for

Per CDC source: At internal leadership meeting this afternoon, it was shared that 1,257 people were RIF'd at CDC. Number may not be final. Apparently, chief of staff was unaware that RIFs were going to occur so not clear who is making decisions. (Short 🧵)

I hope academics are paying attention 2 how departments are treating faculty/staff/students in these times.
And those in leadership who refuse to see the enormity of the chaos and what it threatens are failing in their ability to lead.
Some are using the time to make ppl less secure about their jobs
