I commented on the other thread that Catcher in the Rye was *so* dull.

And yet, it’s a work friend’s favourite book, while another friend absolutely hated Catch-22.

Each to their own I guess, won’t know until you try?

I read The Catcher in the Rye last year.

I only finished it because it is short. Hated it so much!

I get what Salinger was doing with his narrative, but nothing much actually *happens* to create the story, and it’s all so dreary, being inside the kid’s head most of the time.

I can’t wait to retire, for exactly this reason. We only get one life, and wasting so much of it at work is bullshit. (And alarm clocks are an invention of the devil.)

The guy has been a councillor in the last term, and seemed ok, but it is a concern.

I wish candidates had to disclose current/past party association as part of their candidacy.

Today I learned (when it is far too late) that our new mayor may have historic links to the ACT Party!

Had I known that, I would not vote for him for anything, ever.

I only hope ACT have got too radical for him, and I *will* be asking when I get the chance.
