I guess it's intro time, right?

Name's Rob. I'm primarily a programmer (gameplay &UI), but I'm also big into exploring gaming's past - which I do by making videos about them.

Looking forward to meeting cool folks!

If you want everything I'm up to, it's all here: https://linktr.ee/hellfire64

A screen shot of Innchanted, the last game I helped out on. A screen shot of "Invasion of the Emerald Saucers" a game I wrote for the Spectrum Next in 2023. The thumbnail for my video on "Dungeon Hunt", a modern dungeon crawling RPG for the Atari 8-bit Computer Family

Hoping it all goes smoothly and you have a fun time! 🖤

Hot Damn. Now that was an _experience_.

First time I stayed out late for The Dark Room, and it was an absolute riot.

@robcap.bsky.social and I are about to die in The Dark Room!!!

First time live - I'm so excited!!

A winner is me! Had one of my all-timer runs at River Raid, and took home the medal!

I could say that’s my weekend all done and dusted, at least for medal chasing. oh yes!
It’s me! Kind of drained, and holding up the winner’s medal! A shot of “River Raid” on C64, showing the score at the end of my run - 105280.

Of course! I have one panel I want to catch in the arvo, and just need to post a score in a competition in retro - but will be floating besides that!

You know it. Maybe when you’ve got all your panels done and dusted?

Best I throw my #RandomGameSaturday pick before leaving for the day.

Here's Demon Stalkers for C64 - Fire King's predecessor (I shared previously). What if Gauntlet with more story & level editing tools.

More interesting than C64 Gauntlet (despite jank) and a fine AU pick for celebrating MIGW! 😉
Holding up a copy of the disk release of "Demon Stalkers" for Commodore 64. The game comes in a square "folio" case (as expected for a mid-1980s EA game), with the cover illustration showing a top down view of an adventurer type wielding a crossbow and battling enemies in a maze.

Pure chaos. Didn’t score the medal in the end, but four player Warlords certainly is something :)

Getting ready for first tourney of the weekend - Warlords in the 2600.
An Atari 2600 console (the all-black “Vader” model) is connected to a TV, with a game of Warlords in progress.

Feel like I'm manifesting the Bart giving the thumb up when he doesn't feel it kind of energy.

I'm excited for PAX, to see faces and (maybe?) win a medal over, but I feel like I've covered myself in duct tape to hold myself together - so apologies if feelings leak out I guess.

🖤
It's Bart Simpson, sitting on his bed, looking kind of dejected whilst raising the thumb on his right hand as if it say it's all good (when it's kind of not).

Today on the channel: a game that is not, in any way, Tetris, despite its name, but still a cracking puzzler and one of my faves on N64 nonetheless. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsA-...
Tetrisphere: not Tetris, but still a cracking puzzler.

Here's something for everyone! Baku Baku Animal isn't a great puzzle game, but it is exactly what it needs to be:

Will keep an eye out, not sure how late I'll be (for transit and early morning for PAX reasons) - but will see how it goes!

Probably a tad early to think about it - but any friends I know planning to swing by BGNO tomorrow evening?

Was gonna make plans to swing by for a bit - especially if there’s a chance to see folks!

And new today, Mr. Do! on Atari 8-bit! The video is new, not the game. The game is very old, like me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmPv...
Atari does what Mr. Do! does.

Anyway, I guess this episode might have a few more feelings leak into it than my normal scripts - but we’ll see how the writing process goes, I guess!

Spent the afternoon with the Atari 7800 up and grabbing footage for next vid.

Getting a start on this now (plus it’s a small one), because time is going to a bit patchy in the weeks post MIGW.

(Sadly not for good reasons…)
It’s my Atari 7800 set up - a shapely wedge of a console, with a green translucent Concerto (ie. an SD Multicart) and a modern gamepad connected.

Been quite a few weeks for the BBC Micro. Now we not only have effectively Zarch, now we have the first Beeb game to feature solid 3d graphics and texture mapping 😲

Check out Epsilon Protocol on Stardot (login required). Excellent game!

(Also it means I need to really get more shots with friends around the rest of Games Week, so uh, yeah…)
