#microglia and other tissue #macrophages are highly plastic. This makes them look differently depending on their respective context. Granular methods like #single-cell sequencing are merely snapshots that may simplify the complexity found in the tissue. In our perspective in @natneuro.nature.com

On this week’s cover of The Lancet, a new letter: “Gaza’s healthocide: medical societies must not stay silent”.

Read the letter and more in our latest issue: tinyurl.com/5n85x448
Cover of The Lancet's Oct 4, 2025 issue. Cover quote reads: "Most medical and surgical societies worldwide have remained silent or issued vague statements about Gaza's healthocide [...] Staying silent while pretending to be neutral is, in effect, a form of complicity."

In our new study in BRAIN, we use a brain organoid model in which microglia innately develop to further dissect the mechanisms that cause changes in microglia in C9ORF72-ALS and show that PU.1 can help to reverse these pathogenic phenotypes. #GoALS

Our newest study is out🥳! Big shout out to Alex and Philippe for their amazing work here 🫶🏻 and thx to all collaborators who helped us during this journey! And let me tell you… this is just one tiny puzzle piece of understanding microglia/macrophage tissue homing 😎 www.cell.com/developmenta...
Early microglia progenitors colonize the embryonic CNS via integrin-mediated migration from the pial surface
Petry et al. demonstrate a defined migration route of microglia progenitors from the surrounding mesenchyme into the embryonic CNS. This process relies on integrin activation and interactions with the...

What's the role of microglial chromatin-mediated processes? This study shows that loss of ATRX in #microglia disrupts #chromatin structure, leading to de-repression of #retroelements & a viral mimicry #inflammation response that impairs hippocampal neuron function @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/46cBaE4
Top left: Immunofluorescence images of anti-GFP (green) and anti-ATRX (red) counterstained with DAPI (blue) illustrating absence of ATRX in Sun1GFP+ microglia nuclei in 2-month-old ATRX miKO mice. Scale bar, 50 µm. Bottom left: Representative images of microglia tracings; Sholl analysis reveals excessive branching in ATRX miKO compared to control microglia. Right: Immunofluorescence staining of CD68 (green) and Ai14+ (red) cortical and hippocampal CA1 microglia. Scale bar, 50 µm.
