How do they always schedule Grant Park meetings when I'm busy?? Please go to this and fight for all the good urbanist things Grant Park desperately needs

Did my Red Line just wait a whole minute for transfers from the incoming Brown Line?? I'm in love

New: federal judge April Perry in Chicago *will not* issue a temporary restraining order barring members of the Texas Natl. Guard from coming to IL.

Perry will give the fed. govt. until Wednesday at midnight to respond to IL's lawsuit. Oral arguments scheduled for Thursday.

South Loop Roosevelt death trap mentioned🥲 but praise be to the new Wabash protected lanes, its progress

"About 20 officers marched toward the protesters, a cloud of smoke obscuring them. They threw a flash bang grenade at the crowd while agents on the roof fired pepper balls". All this to terrorize Chicagoans.

I love my CCAT!! Absolutely cannot wait for La Spata's next Meet Me on Milwaukee!!
sierraclubchicago.bsky.social
Thanks to Ald. La Spata for talking with CCAT! 🚴‍♂️

He’s championing CIO, ADUs, stronger enforcement for the Dept. of Environment, and proposing energy policy changes to tax high-use consumers like data centers. 💡

I love my CCAT 💚 New housing in Chicago is climate action!
sierraclubchicago.bsky.social
Big thanks to Alderman Lamont Robinson for supporting our slate and recognizing that more housing benefits Chicago’s future, the environment, and the city’s budget!

I walk through Roosevelt/State every week and it sucks. That path on the SW corner is a joke. The developers must improve the transit/pedestrian/bike access like they said they would in the 2019 TIF
ryanmccray.bsky.social
I'm inspired everyday by the extreme overlaps of environmentalism, abundant housing, and active transportation. We're all making life so much better together 💚❤️

We are excited to share that we have joined the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition (ICJC)! We look forward to working with fellow coalition members to tackle zoning and land use reforms that make it easier to build new, healthy homes in existing neighborhoods and near public transit.

Our Inspiring Connections Outdoors team partners with RefugeeOne to help new Chicagoans explore the city. Thanks @urbanrivers.bsky.com for having us at the Wild Mile this summer!
Four people sit in a star-shaped formation in kayaks on the North Branch of the Chicago River. Single and tandem kayaks float south on the North Branch of the Chicago River next to the Wild Mile. Kayaks float on the North Branch of the Chicago River near the Wild Mile Program participants gather for a demonstration on the Wild Mile boardwalk

I'm thinking about a theory that goes something like "the best community engagement is a booth at a public and family friendly area" but I'd love to hear others thoughts on it
jmisci.bsky.social
The concept of community engagement sounds like a great idea, until the city schedules THREE public meetings in one week for your neighborhood. This happened last month in Lakeview.

I want to spend evenings playing volleyball or cooking with my fiancée. Not arguing with NIMBYs!

Map showing locations of different meeting subjects and boundaries in Lakeview

community engagement fatigue:
TUESDAY, JULY 8th
Central Lake View Neighbors general meeting and 19th police district CAPS meeting
WEDNESDAY, JULY 9th
CDOT/Ward 44 meeting:
Proposed bike lane on
Wellington Ave
THURSDAY, JULY 10th
Ward 44 meeting:
Proposed apartment building at 749 W. Briar Place

Just dreamt up "rowboat transit" down the Chicago River from Evanston to the Loop. The logistics bothered me so bad it woke me up
ryanmccray.bsky.social
So excited it's time for CCAT's next cycle! We met with 13 alders this Spring and we need everyone we can get to help pass CIO, legalize ADUs, and protect the budget of the DoE! See you there!
