Been a minute since I've done a #MusicalOffering
and this seems pretty damn appropriate. Had just discovered these guys when the Tipper Gore led PMRC Senate hearings were going on. Talk about a political awakening!

I've been saying Depression for a while. You can't carve this many people from (stable!) federal jobs, not have jobs open in the private sector to absorb them (or anyone else), and have the price of *everything* continuously rise. Something's going to break.

Best case scenario: Great Depression II (which some might say we’re already in if ya wanna be honest about it even though nobody is calling this what it actually is)

Absolutely Worst case scenario: Dark Age II -Techbro Robber Baron Ver.-

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.
Education Department wipes out special ed office in shutdown layoffs, union says
The Education Department laid off nearly everyone at the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.

After 10 long days, the hearing challenging Texas' gerrymandering ended. By the end, all of legacy media had vanished. But Democracy Docket stayed to keep you informed about just how far Republicans went to manipulate the state’s maps.

The e-cargo bike in question is from North Vancouver’s pilot lending program, which makes a variety of electric bicycles available for residents to borrow at for free from a branch of their local library. We were honoured to learn it was inspired by a chapter of our book ‘Building the Cycling City’!

It is imperative that you do not depend on the police to help you or take our side during clashes with the fascist Federals.

Police see a protest and know that they hate every person in that protest. It doesn't matter what it's for or who you are - they know their job is to smash you.

Troopers just violently attacked protesters, tackled several, several arrests, shoving activists and press with batons.

But not wearing a respirator during a surge in the ongoing pandemic.

What a fun way to show how the research & scholars you’re there to ostensibly listen to mean jack shit to you.

I feel like the Coens are reverse Scorsese for me. Scorsese is known for his crime movies but his best are the ones that aren't gangster based, and the Coens are known more for off-beat character movies but crime is their best genre (Miller's Crossing, Blood Simple, Fargo)

Lots of attention on this Marc Benioff article, which is excellent and full of jaw-dropping quotes.

It reminds me of how he was when I did a story for NPR about him secretly buying hundreds of acres of land in rural Hawaii. Things got weird.

If James visits the home regularly then it is available to her for personal use, which means it is not a “rental investment property” as defined by the mortgage rider…and therefore negates the central claim of the indictment

NYT reports that Letitia James’s great niece lives in the home that is the subject of the indictment.

The niece reportedly testified before a *different* grand jury, telling them that she had lived there for many years without paying rent. James visits regularly.

But in June, IMs. Thompson testified to a grand
jury in Norfolk that she had lived in the house for years and that she did not pay rent, a person familiar with her testimony said. She was not asked to testify again, and the grand jury that voted to indict Ms. James was not seated in Norfolk, but in Alexandria.
The specter of Mr. Trump's revenge campaign has so far overshadowed the facts of the case, given how he has pushed for Ms. James's punishment. For years, he has railed against her on social media, calling her a "crook" and
"corrunt" Last month. he also appointed Ms. for a peaceful life after years of turbulence in several cities.
The family, Nakia Thompson and her children, have lived at the address ever since, according to two people familiar with the home, and until this week, the plan for a more lacid existence had largely gone as expected. Several times a year, the people said, a great-aunt who had purchased the house in 2020 with Ms.
Thompson in mind would come for an extended stay.
This week, with the filing of court papers some 200 miles north, the plan came to an abrupt end.
The great-aunt - Letitia James, the New York attorney general - was indicted by President Trump's Justice Department. The yellow house,

Of course, that was back before the Federalist Society decided that they had named themselves ironically.

There is no constitutional governance so long as we leave Trump et al regime in power.

Why bother passing a budget* & lending legitimacy to this farce?

*impeach & remove is best; strong efforts via power of purse (maybe but as we see…) & other measures to return to constitutional governance next.

Just rolled up, immediately saw ISP/CCSO arresting a protester w/ a guitar (he appears to be in good spirits over it).

ICE vehicles have been coming and going, including a large bus driven by a masked agent seen earlier.
