I read one book in September, A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft, a sapphic, academia, enemies-to-lovers.

Does anyone else go in ‘seasons’? I’m moving from reading into work & hibernation mode. Some of this might be due to needing my next dose of Ocrevus, but this is also just how I work.
Have you actually kissed/been kissed where there was anyone’s tongue tracing the seam of anyone’s lips? I don’t think that’s ever happened to me, ever. It’s generally a two mouths open situation.
I mean, same, for a good long time!!
I’d recommend Hermann Hesse. My favorites are: Demian, Gertrude, and Steppenwolf.
I’ve been trying to avoid doomscrolling by reading the Sherlock Holmes stories. What other public domain books do folks recommend? I’d love recommendations outside the standard USian English Literature path.
if you must be online may i point out that project gutenberg is still around and still has basically every book written before 1910 for free
Note to self: live music is an INTENSE power-up! Do more of that!!

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like
Congrats, Dei! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for it!
I am delighted to announce that in the 12/25 edition of Dirty Magick Magazine, I will have a short story (THE EXILE'S PYRE) where Jórunn makes her first appearance! There are two more sword-and-norsery stories with her on submission now, but @cdbrown.bsky.social will have the first one!
Oh, hey! It me! I’ve been much more in a visual art mode of late (as opposed to the writing sort), and this piece was so fun to work on. I’m very proud of these lovely ladies!
Pre-orders for art prints of any of 12 different artworks, or the 2026 calendar including um all, ends at midnight on Sept 15!. Meet our last artist Shea Sullivan, and her monster/human wlw piece, THE RIDDLE! You can pre-order your own here: duckprintspress.com/2025/09/13/a...

We're currently $29/month in backing from my being able to give our authors and artists a raise on pieces they make for Patreon.

That's only 10 people backing at the $3/month level, or 6 at the $5, or 3 at the $10. That's like. hardly any people at all!

So please help by sharing this. <3

Just want to say thank you to Bluesky for recognizing that sometimes adults want to see or read things that are not for kids, and we’re allowed to do that, actually. (This brought to you by a link from tumblr, where they don’t feel this way, despite being the freaksxfreaks site.)

#Booksky So we were going to do a book announcement today but the cool award news took precedence, so we’ll announce tomorrow. In the meantime, it’s #SapphicSeptember and you can find our sapphic titles everywhere from our website to Bookshop to Kobo and Bella! queenofswordspress.com
Apparently I’ve finished 0 books in August. It’s been a black hole month - lots of in, no out. But there is fermenting happening. Some kind of caterpillar thing. See you next month, maybe.

Today is National Aviation Day in the US! We asked our contributors to recommend their favorite queer books that prominently feature aviation, expanded to include all sorts of piloting. Yes, we did get a lot of dragons. This list as a blog post: duckprintspress.com/2025/08/19/f...
I mean, I’m not 100% sure (though I’ve been stung before, just don’t know by what), but I will always be cautious with stings. I’m really hoping to never find out either way.
Today I learned that I’m not deathly allergic to Yellowjacket stings, and that they sometimes have nests in the ground. Yay, knowledge. 🫠
I did not paint today, but I did go buy art supplies, so that kinda counts, right?
Importing and exporting is a cut/paste situation to my knowledge. They’re great in that they’re actively making improvements, and very responsive, and very clearly anti-genAI. But it’s early days, and mainly focused on online writing and sharing rather than prep for export/print/submission.
