Don’t think I posted this, but @neoxiii.bsky.social did a full set of bleps for my characters!

I started this off a few years ago but the menagerie has grown since then, haha

- QT, a jerboa with purple highlights
- Swisher, a very fluffy striped hyena
- Tinker, Swisher’s spotted hyena brother
- Taylor, the yeens’ striped dad
- Sayla, the yeens’ spotted mum
- Tanse, a sergal (they’re actually a tanuki don’t tell anyone)
- Hissboy, an opossum with long black hair
- Kine, a protogen with a visor made from epaper

It’s not the quality of the art that’s the issue, it’s the whole “I got mine” aspect of it

Like you made your music and you want it to be taken seriously, but also fuck visual artists I’m entitled to free art trained on their work

Saw a pretty good band as a support, immediately checked them out when I got home, saw their EPs had AI artwork and now I can’t even remember their name

The example that springs to mind is that Viva la Vida sold like two million copies and its album artwork is a public domain painting with “Viva la Vida” written on it

This is going around again and it is not true. Like every site on the internet, Bluesky uses machine learning to do a first-pass approximation of image classification to detect and label content. They have repeatedly confirmed outside services do not use Bluesky user data to train their models.

Yeah, exactly, haha. I think a lot of these TOS panics always kinda forget that it a company is shady enough to train on random images, they’re just going to scrape it

It doesn’t really make sense? If they used uploads to train their GenAI then we could just upload images of Micky Mouse

And if they don’t care about the copyright implications of that, then why would they bother sneaking a clause into their privacy policy when they could just scrape everything

It does not literally mean that.

You might BELIEVE that is happening, and I would certainly understand why.

But we probably should wait for like, evidence, before stating something as fact in an attempt to spread panic. It's not possible to hold anyone accountable otherwise

Yeah, that’s the closest thing I could find too! I wanted to go looking since the screenshotted post is a couple of years old at this point so I wondered if it might still be applicable

There’s also the “we gain unlimited rights (for specific reasons)” clause in there that usually scares people

That meant that occasionally you’d get someone joining who’d lurked for a while without creating an account, who’d say “what the gently caress!” intentionally because they thought it was a forum in-joke

The OP has acknowledged this but those words are mainly used to get around automatic moderation, but the problem is they seep into language

Something Awful used to replace the word “fuck” with “gently caress” if you weren’t logged in as a way of making the site more palatable to ad vendors

I’ve rambled about this before but of all the many facets of fascism shown in 1984, it bothers me that everyone latched onto “surveillance bad!” as the moral of the book and completely ignored the bit where they reduced the English language specially to make it harder to formulate improper thoughts

It will never not bother me to hear “unalived” or “graped”. We’ve more than proved that banning language only creates different words for the same topics that we absolutely need to be talking about. Stop making serious issues sound less serious by banning the real heavy words. They’re not the issue

I find this fascinating because it gives you glimpse into how some of this stuff works, and the little cheats artists have to do to make things look good. Sonic’s pupils are always positioned in an unnatural way on the model itself, but they’re made to work from the specific angle used in-game
