Remember: climate change, police brutality, lack of healthcare, COVID, transphobia, burnout, sexism, mass shootings, poverty, racism, genocide, etc… they all cause disability.

Remember: anyone can become disabled at any time.

You must remember this because the fascists do. And they weaponize it.

Like the BIGGEST danger of Generative AI, particularly in Journalism, isn’t in it’s ability to fabricate lies, its instead a side-effect of that: that people will doubt the truth, even when presented hard evidence. AI is pushing us toward a dangerous cultural psychosis, where reality doesn’t exist.

This is the pettiest of complaints, but I’m sick of websites and apps removing “no” as an option. It’s been replaced by “maybe later” or “ask again later.”

I swear there is a direct line between anger about women’s consent and this and it WILL be what drives me to villainy.

I just realized we're back to anxiously checking every month to make sure benefit payments have gone through again. I'd finally started to let that go and now I'm gonna be wondering month to month again.

just in case it wasn’t clear: when you stigmatize drug use you not only dehumanize people, but *also* make it harder for ppl to get medical attention for things that are not drugs

If someone is suffering from an drug overdose you shouldn't throw them in a jail cell either.

WTF is wrong with these police?!

If they truly believe someone was impaired by drugs they should have taken them to the hospital to safely detox! If they had done what they were supposed to the hospital would’ve realized it was a stroke and that postal worker would still be alive!!

Yes, racism and ableism go hand in hand with police abuse. Both are major targets - put together it's even worse.

And EVEN IF he'd been on drugs, THAT WAS STILL INHUMANE TREATMENT.

THIS IS WHY WE SAY ACAB.

Kingsley Bimpong should be alive.

Yea, it really does! I think for one thing, it allows ppl to have more trust that it's a real person - if someone they know is vouching for them. It also makes it stand out from all the other noise on the TL if it's coming directly from someone they follow vs. a re-post from someone they don't.

Yup. And a lot of liberal and progressive orgs were very into eugenics at that time, too. We want to assume it could only be the fascists but it's been everyone.

Someone trying to deny that Nazis got eugenics ideas from the US and Canada.

Like... it's documented. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with someone calling it "flatly untrue".

The Bollinger Baby was 1915. Buck v. Bell was 1927.

Gerhard Herbert Kretschmar wasn't murdered until 1939.

TY - my household has been going through a lot including unemployment, disability, cancer, two cars needing repairs, two cats that need vet care, and more. We need more support than we have access to currently to make this work.

I have a kitchen full of dishes, but I tend to rinse/wash off the same few things I like to use best over and over, too.

I also find it a comfort to read things of loved ones who are gone - it helps keep them alive and maybe even get a peek into getting to know them better.

But I acknowledge everyone is different. I think whatever you choose to do will be okay.
sophygurl.bsky.social
Me, personally? I don't care what happens to my stuff once I'm gone. Anyone can read anything. I'm not here to be embarrassed or worry if it will upset someone or whatever.

Oh yea, coming out day!

Lemme continue to come out as a non-mono-attracted akio-aroace genderqueer bigender polyamorous dudechick.

You can just say queer for short, though.

Today is National Coming Out Day!

It's also Freedom to Read Day, aka the last day of Banned Books Week.

This feels right — because the main reason they try to ban books is to keep people from dreaming they could ever come out.
