Somehow we had a successful game launch in 2025: A thread 🧵

We launched Little Rocket Lab this week, and it's been mega for us. Which is amazing, because well, the industry is bad right now!

So I wanna go through the things we did, in the hope that something here can be helpful to someone here

You know how local media is getting decimated as disinformation floods in?

Well, my friends at @nationalobserver.com have created an incredibly cool new tool for keeping an eye on local politics.

Really enjoying this game Graeme. I've just arrived at the Ruby Vault. The setting is giving me "Out of this World" vibes.

Y'all should play Graeme's new game! It's a cozy puzzle game with beautiful art and soothing music. Made in under 72 hours using Godot. #gamedev #ld58

Made in <72 hours for #LD58. It's a short puzzler with a mini-narrative based on the theme of "Collector". This was so fun to make, and I'm really proud of the result 😊

get lost and breath

My take, which I’ve banged on about before, concerning the state of young people reading these days is that reading is a rhythm. It’s like a mix of slow breathing and being pleasurably bored. We need to bring back spaces and times where our young people can breath and think and get lost in a world.

Nice. I played through with my kids when it first came out. We had previously played through the first game together. We all loved both.

We love to see it Maggie! Amazing work. Very sorry to hear about your best friend.

@overduepod.bsky.social Have y'all seen this philosophical meditation on living a good life by Edward "Choose Your Own Adventure" Packard?!?

Link in the previous post.

The guy who created the Choose Your Own Adventure books released an 11 page booklet on nine things he's learned in 90 years.

I found it surprisingly sweet and worthy of contemplation. (Although I was slightly disappointed with the lack of branching paths.)
A number of Choose Your Own Adventure books scattered on top of each other.
