This is a real problem. Last year we made infographics for NS principals, teachers, and parents about communicable diseases that must be reported to public health. Those resources are downloadable here: drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Let's stay healthy infographic for parents and guardians. It includes a list of notifiable diseases (covid, whooping cough, flu, strep a, measles, mumps, tuberculosis); why schools matter for infection control as congregate settings; and how to protect yourselves and others (stay home when sick, open the windows, air filtration, wear a well-fitted mask, and report). You're one in a melon!

You know, many years and nine months ago I fucked your mom.

Coworker: none of these are appropriate for Janet's birthday.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I use Canada Post to ship out my prints. Its crucial for my business. Canada Post staff are fantastic when I go in to ship stuff out. Corner store depots are a NIGHTMARE for small businesses. Try going in with 30 packages while people are buying lotto. UPS and Fed Ex triple my costs.

almost 9 years ago, I gave birth to my child via c-section (after many hrs of labour) and my first question as they were stitching me up was "How'd the ballgame end?" The Jays had won lol

I'd love to read the responses too. I suspect there would be a lot of head nodding reading everyone's experiences.

I really hope they start taking internalized misogyny seriously. This isn't just women being dimissed by male physicians. It's also women healthcare workers refusing to take other women seriously.

MP Shannon Miedema called the police & used security to block a small and non-threatening group of citizens who went to her office today to ask about missing Cdn citizens who were kidnapped from the Flotilla by Israel.

This what Charlie Kirk’s organization does. And Halifax MP Shannon Miedema gave them a standing ovation in parliament.

Nova Scotia's wastewater virus signals show a big COVID spike still rising at the end of September. Source: wwater.ca?lang=en#Nova...; it's a really good time to wear a mask in public spaces 😷 & get up to date vaccinations at novascotia.flow.canimmunize.ca/en/booking/c... cc @popns.bsky.social
Wastewater virus signals graph updated October 9 2025 showing a huge orange spike in covid detection with the last date of reported date from September 21 2025 (note only Halifax is still reporting wastewater virus levels for NS!)

My last vaccination was end of Jan 2025, and it let me book.

yes, I often think that we pretend Quinpool is multiple lanes, but it's not. It's two lanes with parking.

Am I wearing my Russell Martin tshirt to teach today? yes. Will the students find out exactly what kind of weirdo I am? also, yes.

in this case, apparently the society (which is like 6 people) was having it out with everyone on facebook 🙄

In the past the website has had difficulties living up to group booking and booking multiple vaccines simultaneously. I'd try again with a new browser.

I think the public could challenge that, if they wanted to. But it seems to be the same story all over the province. Only the worthy get access.
sujo.bsky.social
This news story leaves out all the wild community drama! It's next to the school, but they want to restrict access even though it received public money lol
sujo.bsky.social
totally agree. at some point, public health forgot part of its original mandate is educating the public.
sujo.bsky.social
It's great that the pharmacies' information was correct, but it's totally bizarre that Nova Scotia Health didn't make any announcement before opening the booking site. Absolutely no attempt to educate people about the importance of vaccination.

my family's getting real tired of me constantly saying "hey, they got just enough rest" after every Jays' positive outcome. this is only game 2.
