I quite agree but isn’t that the whole Graham Green shtick too?

What I don’t understand is that the alone demographics suggest there is voter support though - is it just Brexit fatigue? Or genuine conviction it will lose them the red wall?

(Grammar rather garbled here, need another coffee)

I still think they’ll be forced to change that stance if they want any kind of growth, but it is baffling to me why they are not actively pursuing it now.

(In the last election at least)

Especially when, well, that’s your typical Labour voter. Whatever other fantasies they may tell themselves.

Yes I’ve read that too- and I can believe it. Effortless flippancy is hard work!

The plots are all essentially the same (and yet I find the language incredibly entertaining)

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Oh it’s so good isn’t it

I hate the world we live in so much sometimes. Someone told me about a very wealthy entrepreneur who outsourced his dating chats to his female pa, but this is next level.

Exactly. It’s incredibly tedious.

I adore London&fully agree on Dubai, but the author‘s criticism of Paris& Berlin is a joke. French political turmoil is bad is it? Have you watched UK news since 2014? German trains are slow? Thank God for the sound state of UK Infrastructure.
Love you 🇬🇧. But ditch the superiority complex. Please.

You definitely shouldn't move to Dubai, writes V&A director Tristram Hunt on.ft.com/46MfW1t

Don't feel stupid, but also, if someone helpfully tells you "that's fake," the correct response is "oh shit, let me delete this" not doubling down and disabling comments.

Don’t feel stupid if you fell for fake video. It can be really hard to tell these days. But we do have to try and be careful with what we share because there’s so much AI video out there.

It’s just the world we live in now.

Fair point. I actually liked Ulysses but I’m afraid Finnegan’s wake completely defeated me

I’m aiming to reacquaint myself with the Jilly Cooper canon over the weekend- infinitely more enjoyable
