I’m primary caretaker for a baby now, spending nearly every hour of almost every day handling it all completely on my own.

I’d like to be able to afford 1-2 days a week to knock out big chores (like laundry) & to be on the ground again. A nanny costs $20-$30/hr. I make $350/week lol

This sentiment from current beat cops (not the shadowy talking heads from the PBA that Weiss is using as sourcing here) meshes with informal interviews over the years with cops who hate subway details (mandatory OT). It’s a big reason why cops are leaving NYPD: Not what they signed up to do.

Nobody wants it as a story but I have multiple NYPD sources who voted for Mamdani, are eager for his win in November, and who say their colleagues quietly feel the same.

They like that he wants NYPD to focus on crime, not quality of life enforcement.

i have asked that same question to people much smarter and more experienced in these types of things and it seems that, absent evaporating from time and space, we just have to wait until it explodes because there aren’t any preemptive resources to stop it (afaik). so i guess…. stay tuned?

i don’t even do anything. i show up to things and state what is occurring. i note who is present and what they are doing. they post the events publicly. anyone can document! im being targeted for note taking???

and i don’t even do that much these days! most of my time now is spent raising a baby!

i plainly reported that kamala was losing favor with voters she needed to prevent us from plummeting straight into fascism, and that she needed to pivot back to them instead of dnc donors, and i got my shit kicked in by dems for it. now i’m at risk of serious harm by fascists for doing journalism.
