Smurfs real. I can’t talk more right now but smurfs are real
teganoneil5000.bsky.social
oh great now you’re going to have this one in your head for the rest of the weekend
teganoneil5000.bsky.social
did see one of the stars on one of the talk shows I watch while eating and she tried her best to give an anecdote about how “kooky” that guy is to work with but even the attempt at humanizing really only made it worse and made it sound like the guy is just fucking with everyone 24/7. what a “vibe.”

it’s October 11th, which means that nine years ago this little essay went live … did it change my life? yes, and most definitely not how I expected.

so let that be a lesson for you this Coming Out Day: whatever you think the future holds, it does not. life comes at you, for worse and for better.

see this is what happens after you go to Taco Bell by yourself on Friday night

hey I got a tip for Hollywood: I would probably have gone to see a Tron sequel but you put a toxic schmuck in it. now I will never see it, not even mid-day on a TBS marathon because guess what we don’t have cable anymore.

so just where’s the market for franchise slop no one actually wants, now?

Marvel celebrates the Nobel victory of László Krasznahorkai by reenacting The Turin Horse with the Ultimate line

“horse dead, potato gone - what left? darkness, no spider-man.”

I just watched that Sherman video again and if that isn’t the fable of our times I don’t know what is
teganoneil5000.bsky.social
that sounds awful in such a specific way.

it’s been a long time since I had a quote-unquote partner or even dated, but there are times I think it might be nice to have someone with whom to share space - and those times are immediately after I return home from Taco Bell with an inadvisably heavy bag. I need someone to wield the veto.

at first I was thinking this was going to be a short-lived status quo but two issues in I want to see this version of Thor in the Avengers for years to come.
teganoneil5000.bsky.social
Ultimate X-Men is still doing it for me, but that’s partly because it’s no connection to anything else. Immortal Thor does indeed whip ass.

a couple weeks ago I watched the new Adam Conover special on YouTube, because it was there and I wasn’t paying attention, and it was both vaguely unfunny but also completely on-point for the one bit about how there is literally nothing in the world baseball fans like less than extra baseball.

a birthday present for myself arrived, quite belatedly, and now I’m wondering: how are you supposed to read these compendiums? because this is bigger and somehow more awkward than the omnibi which are already a freakin hassle and a half to pull out.
Monstress Compendium One by Marjorie Liu & Sana Takeda. Monstress Compendium One by Marjorie Liu & Sana Takeda. Do you see how thick this is. What am I supposed to do with this.

in my heart Matlock will always be a show where Randy Travis can just show up at any time to pick some down home bluegrass for a couple minutes, and they’ll just stop the plot to let him. what even are we if that is gone from us?
teganoneil5000.bsky.social
still blows my mind they successfully rebooted Matlock without any corn pone, and with a weird metatextual hook to boot. I would have bet every dollar I have ever had and will ever have that the corn pone was completely load-bearing to that brand … and now it’s a show about city slickers???

So that was Friday October 10th 2025. Crikey. Another day done, another (more or less) here. So it goes.

(Out this very month in 1981, just 44 years ago, 2000AD #233, with its darn thrilling cover featuring Judge Dredd by Ron Smith.)

And so to bed. Sleep well, gentle sentients of Planet Earth.

Found this in a 1981 Conan the Barbarian comic book. I salute you across the gulf of time, Horny Enough to Cut Out a Newspaper Ad Kid.
Ad for Tarzan the Ape Man starring Bo Derek and Richard Harris, with the line “The most beautiful woman of our time in the most erotic adventure of all time” and art of Derek in a straw bikini swinging on a vine against a white background
