Here is a really lovely reflection on Dalton Webb, and what it is like to know him. Lots of comics-folk share wonderful words, which makes sense because he was a wonderful guy. I feel that you'll be glad you read it.

It’s heartening to see a female superhero book written and colored by two trans women, and edited by an all-woman team, especially after the Red Hood debacle. Campbell brings a refreshing messy goofiness to Supergirl that I found immediately satisfying. Campbell clearly cares a lot about the characters she’s writing, bringing a great deal of respect to every page without taking herself or the series too seriously. Each issue is emotionally compelling but also downright hilarious, with this month’s issue being a touching and rather horrifying holiday special about abandonment and trauma."

Of all the reviews I’ve written, this one of Raging Clouds by Yudori from @fantagraphics.bsky.social for @comicsjournal.bsky.social took maybe the longest to write and the most amount of serious, difficult thought and work. There’s a lot to really admire here and a lot that could have been better:

I, alongside many others, contributed a best-comics-of-the-year list to The Comics Journal. I made my picks with an eye towards consensus favorites, but still got bummed out seeing the trends in the list I was absolutely a part of. (Too many superhero comics, not enough minicomics or manga.)
