Title: Lake Towada (1952)

Artist: Hasui Kawase

www.japan.travel/en/destinati... #ShinHanga #Art #HasuiKawase #Showa #Autumn #LakeTowada #Aomori #Akita #Tohoku #Japan
A little wooden lug-rigged sailboat navigates between rocky outcrops on Lake Towada. The rocks are covered with trees rusting red, yellow, and orange with the season. Beyond, on the far side of the lake, low hills are covered in yellowing foliage. The surface of the lake is calm, reflecting the boat and the rocks; above, a few puffy clouds hug the horizon as they cross the bright blue sky.

Though I think maybe you'd have to have my exact kind of brain damage to think so.

I cannot believe I'm going to say this but the "HMM" version of "Heavy Metal Machine" rules.

The Machina I version of "Speed Kills" is still amazing. I was really, really worried they were gonna put the "Rawkin' the High School Prom" version from Machina II on here.

Following "Real Love" with the new mix of "The Imploding Voice" really highlights how fucked up the production on "Real Love" is -- that shimmering quality in the background of "Imploding Voice" is clearly what they were aiming for, and they faaaaaaaaailed.

"Real Love" is still the worst-produced great song ever put to tape. It sounds like absolute shit, and still manages to shine.

I will say, to their credit, they managed to make the Machina I and Machina II tracks sound like they came from the same album, which is surprising.

But it's sort of crazymaking that they *don't* sound like either of their previous incarnations, so it's yet another set of variants of these songs

Self-production is fine, even great, for a 10-track punk album.

Self-production is a disaster for a 48 track would-be rock opera built from tracks that each have at least four completely different variants across 25 years of releases.

It's really clear that there's a workable idea here, but without someone independent of the band dynamics to shape the final product, the result is a disjointed clusterfuck of ideas and styles that almost but don't quite come together.

I'm listening to the "Aranea Alba Editio" version of Machina and while I'm nowhere near done, I gotta say -- producers are important! People should hire them when making an album! Billy Corgan *especially* should be forced by court order to submit his work to a producer before any release!

Lol, could be a pretty lucrative business on Bluesky

If I got a personally-authored insult this good from David Simon I'd frame it.

Your bio indicates nothing about being a human pratfall who can't distinguish raw sarcasm. And yet here you are in the wilderness. Wait for nightfall, reread the OP slowly, and then use the stars to navigate in a straight line back to coherence. Travel safe. God bless.

@audacityofdespair.bsky.social your bio says you are a dramatist. Your comments about Portland are just drama and nothing more. Most lies make good stories. All lies are revealed in time. Standby.

Daily bunny no.3103 wants to show off their collection
A bunny with thick glasses shows another bunny their room, which is full of colorful mushrooms being cultivated both around the room and in a drawer. The other bunny looks mildly grossed out. There is also a poster showing different mushroom species on the wall

The thing I hate doing *the most* in video games is building decks. I don't wanna do it. I don't care about doing it. I don't like having to hope for cards I need to drop. I don't want to build spreadsheets to determine optimum builds. Fuck all of that.

What a pity that's like 90% of indie games.

INTANGIBLES: DREAM AND DISILLUSION (1989)
Acrylic on Canvas - 24" X 48"

When I got a call about a book project, an Arthur C. Clarke short story collection titled Tales from Planet Earth, I told the client that I had already set aside the month to work on a personal project. 1/5
A primitive, bearded man crouches naked on the sand as white cresting waves roll in to gently lap the shore. With palm up, he reaches out toward a triangular glass pyramid surrounded by a hazy ring of light. The prism is one of many objects that swirl in the air to form a Fibonacci curve around him. The symbols include an hourglass, a trilobite fossil, an egg, a glass heart, a broken ladder, and an owl skull. Orange rock forms a natural bridge behind him. Through its arch, the luminous moon hangs low in the sky.

Daily bunny no.3102 wishes they had checkers
Three bunnies are afloat at sea, on a yellow inflatable life raft. They have a few supplies, and look bored but not too worried. It is a calm, dusky evening, and there is a seagull nearby
