It should not be surprising that Carney’s nation-building projects (read: extraction), which Carney defends as a matter of sovereignty, put the most pressure on Indigenous sovereignty.

Carney’s agenda only works if Indigenous Peoples consent or are pushed out of the way.

My position is clear: I am unequivocally opposed to any new fossil fuel development — including LNG.

We must have the courage to say this to every government, of any stripe: if you’re building new pipelines or fossil infrastructure, this shall not pass.

Carney is blowing up his own coalition with this pipeline stuff. You can tell from the Liberal MPs comments they're not happy, their constituents aren't happy, and if Carney pursues this path he'll ignite way more opposition than he's bargaining for.
