I've had 40+ new followers today, and no idea why.

Anyways, if you're new here, hello!

I'm Dave, I mostly post about gaming stuff, cooking, and when the weather's nice, gardening.

I follow back chaotically, as the mood strikes. And I block alt right chuds.

Oh, the game is traveller. I don't wanna name the module, because while it's got bugs, it's still good, and I'm not being fair in this "review".
tetrapod.bsky.social
It's a classic game, but IMO better than palladium.
tetrapod.bsky.social
My brother loves it, it's one of his favourite games. I'm not a huge fan of it, but if you like big games with lots of bits and a decent amount of randomness, you'll probably love it.

Like, I'm digging the game, and I know typos and bugs exist. I've done a few myself.

But man, there are a LOT of em.

Like, it references a piece of tech a guy has... That's nowhere in the book.

Instead, it's in another adventure - that doesn't use it.

It was included in the wrong book.

It does dedicate two pages to a room by room writeup for this ship... With a key to a map that doesn't exist (it's in the core book).

Also, the game uses very specific rules for shipmaking... And these modifications don't fit those rules. Someone screwed up the math and no one caught it.
tetrapod.bsky.social
Rereading a module I bought that dedicates two pages to stats for a spaceship you'll see for a second but barely interact with (and uses recycled art), but doesn't give stats for the ship the PCs fly for 6 months.

Just "it is like the ship in the book, but with these changes."

Face palm moment.

I've got some venison sausage in my freezer. I'm gonna try making this. Thanks!

Crazy how much better of an approach this is than "welp there are real concerns about youth sports but uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" horseshit offered up by the Gallego, Buttigieg and Newsome types.

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

The current edition is well put together and has a lot of support. Plus I think there are free quickstart rules available!

Like, instead of improving her weak gun combat skill, my wife decided her character needed a better skill rating in Electronics (Remote Ops) because being the ship's drone pilot seemed a lot more useful than being able to hit more often with a rifle.

This would never happen in d&d

I really like how there isn't an assumption of combat in traveller. Like, you can just play the game - you don't need to shoot people or whatever.

I'm also impressed that my usually trigger happy players are okay with this.

It's a lot of fun.

There's a first act that involves interviewing people while at a navy space station under construction.

Then PCs travel to the wreck, a decompressed ship in the ice rings of a gas giant.

Then they find evidence of awfulness, and have to figure out whodidit, before they get blamed for the crime.

Accidentally wrote a whole-ass Traveller adventure, based on a two sentence pitch if a player bites.

It interests me, so I might actually take time to develop it.

Basically, the travellers are aircraft accident investigators (in SPAaaAace!) trying to figure out if there's a cover-up

Oh wow, those cuisines would absolutely pair together nicely

I'm intrigued about three sisters stew. I'm thinking butternut squash, some sort of bean (chickpeas!), and corn? Maybe in chicken stock and some sage or something?

All the dlc + wotc. Usually I can do commander without losing anyone, or maybe one or two.

I've had a wipe twice so far, and I'm not even at the first terror mission.

Started replaying XCOM 2 for the first time in a few years, and I'm doing a lot worse than I used to - ppl dying on every mission.

Either the game got updated to be harder, or I've become dumber.

Yeah, that's weird.

But hey, does "Dave" taste at all like "David"? I'm kind of imagining my name tastes like shortbread.

Or, possibly, Corned Beef.

Got a portrait done of me. The artist is amazing - she's going places.
A picture of me, glasses, beard, and all, done in sharpie. Overhead, in a child's writing, it reads "Daddy""
