Absolutely, Are You Afraid of the Dark was definitely a land mark.

And we also had The Strange World of Alex Mack as an introduction to escaped experiment style superhero fiction.

Intro level contemporary horror is such an important genre and there was some killer stuff in this era. Goosebumps, Eerie, So Weird, Are you Afraid of the Dark
I'll never forget that red undead thing in the pool from Afraid or the Ghost Girl/Boy and Moon Camp from Goosebumps or the Tupperware family

Yes. This is also what all the demands to show "gratitude" and this obsession with hierarchy is about.

For a long time they were able to engineer and perpetuate absurd expectations of Black silence and/or obeisance.

A lot of their brains broke when POC on social media simply ... did not do this.

The reason a lot of white people can operate in the privilege of a comment like “we used to be able to have dissenting opinions & now they break friendships” is because the people of color in the room had to be silent in order to remain in the room safely.

One to have the useful feature of generating heat via chemical processes fire-beetle-esque

The other to drone to counter siren song.

The fire-beetle one attacked me because I lowed roll.
