My mum was working homeless for a short period of time when I was just starting school. We juggled between sofa surfing with various relatives before living with my grandfather until we found a place. She was working in a well paying job but it was still not enough to live in the city centre.
“The working homeless” is not a myth. They want us to be invisible so they don’t have to answer for what this capitalistic hellscape is doing to us all.
It’s real. We exist. We’re a growing class of people (which is why folks want to look away). And I’ll never be quiet about it.

4 Lakota men were kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis. 3 of them were taken to what used to be a concentration camp for Native people, and the only people talking about it are other Indigenous people. I am angry but mostly numb, I am so used to this at this point. We are always forgotten.
