Anytime people question characters going into dungeons I re-frame it as "But why would my character WANT to work this catering job???" They don't! but they're gonna, because rent is due on Tuesday.

Leaving aside that you should make a character that wants to engage with the game, HIS MAJESTY THE WORM bakes this into the premise. You DON'T want to go to the dungeon but there's SOMETHING you need there. This is your Quest. Define it at char gen.
