I think the leak of the incredibly racist young republican group chat only furthers the argument that millennials were the only generation able to use the computer without going insane, mostly because the computer was once a place separate from the real world. but now the real world is also computer

I stopped logging onto 4chan decades ago when they convinced me to look up a video of a homeless man getting beaten to death by a couple of teens with a hammer (the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs) and it hasn't gotten better since then.

Even 4chan won't host the worst of them anymore.

Everything is both simultaneously joking and serious, depending on which one is more advantageous in the moment. If you don't like it, you just need to "lighten up" until you're untethered from your last shred of decency. Come join us, it's more fun over here at the controls of the gas chambers.

It's difficult to explain to someone who didn't spend their teen years on 4chan how irony poisoning works. You think they're joking, they look at you with a straight face and say "I'm serious", and then you say "you're serious?" and they go "haha jk you're so gullible".

They're serious though.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

The thing is, in both cases, you’ll probably find that the real answer is more complicated than the internet rhetoric you’ve been repeating. It always is. The 30-50 feral hogs are real. We just had hog discourse so you should understand how that could be a legitimate problem.

But I see this a lot among people who are opposed to doing harm to others. They don’t like to look at the harm. They don’t use the tools they oppose. They don’t know their enemy.

Same with guns. If you think they’re so bad, then go to a range and actually learn about why.
