After the 15th inning it is time to replace one player with a dog until someone wins or it's all dogs.

I do prefer signal for texting with my android friends because otherwise photos and reactions between their phones and my iPhone don’t work right. But they work on signal!

One of my favorite things about NYC is whenever anyone runs for office here they are required to disclose their bagel order.

Type Space in Portland! It’s great.

Oops I went to a typewriter store “just to look”
A smiling white woman with bangs wearing a flannel stands outside of The Type Space holding a very cute leather typewriter bag. She is grinning like a happy clam! A Royalite typewriter from late 1950s in green.

related, the NYT has portland-based reporters, but chose to assign this piece to one based in SF

This was lazy reporting, and the Times would have done better for its audience exploring why so many Portlanders voted in DSA council. Article includes nothing from these voters. Describing Republicans in Portland as an “endangered species” is a choice.

I kind of lose track of where I am in the roll so I try but it doesn’t always work out. It’s a fun surprise when I get the film back!

Yes! With Kodak ultramax film

Film is so beautiful. Even on a cheap little camera.
Two half frames. The first side shows part of a lighthouse against the sky. The other is a view of the ocean from high up Coney Island. The beach stretches out in front full of people and umbrellas. Two half frames of a kitten on a couch near a window. In one he looks at the camera and in the other he peers over the edge of the sofa

I knew they’d come for the archivists and librarians but honestly I assumed it would be for a reason better than “Our Special Boy wants to give his friend a sword! Give him a sword!”
piperformissouri.bsky.social
“They asked for a sword, and we said, ‘Well, we do have swords, but we can’t give them away because they’re museum artifacts,’” said Todd Arrington, forced to resign as head of Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library.”

A close friend of mine had an open adoption for her daughter and the adoptive parents kind of became like aunts or parents for my friend as well. I can’t speak to how the daughter feels but from the outside it seems like such a best case scenario at least for this family.Thank you for writing this.

If you want to understand open adoption, it makes sense to start with birth parents—yet studies of them are few. 2+ yrs ago, I began talking w/ birth mothers to try to understand what living in an open adoption is like for them, and what rights or options they might have if challenges were to arise.
When Adoption Promises Are Broken
Many birth mothers hope to maintain contact with their child. But their agreements with adoptive parents can be fragile.

I have no children but the picture book area of my bookshelf is one of my favorite places. I’m so in love with the form.

Beautiful short stories and pictures? What’s not to like!

I was sent this by a Georgian this morning. 2025 premiums vs 2026 premiums for someone making $65k a year.

Republicans in Washington did this.

This is what I'm fighting to stop. This is what’s at stake in this shutdown fight.

I’m really enjoying the heavy presence of chickens in HBO’s TASK. They’re basically a side plot at this point. Extensive, beautiful shots of chickens.
