Genuinely kind of funny how many people argued that criticizing US corporations playing ball with the PRC's censorship requirements to get access to that market was sinophobia when that turned out to be the blueprint for how they'd react to authoritarianism here

Steam forums are great for finding the most stupid people alive
tobbinatorscw.bsky.social
Saw a comment in the steam forums for one game where several people were checking whether it was really true that there was one short mission where you played as a woman, and declaring they would never get it as a result

We banned a guy on the Steam forums for repeatedly saying there were “too many women” in our game

So he flipped his positive review to negative

Still totally worth it

It is self soothing to say that if only Palestinians accepted Israel then everything would be unlocked and peace would be possible. OK well that already happened, more than once, and what did it result in? When will people seriously grapple with the idea that perhaps Israel is a lot like Russia?

Contract renewal was approved by all relevant levels of management except none of them told the person who's meant to prepare and send it to me
tobbinatorscw.bsky.social
Not sure if I'm employed right now because I'm on (approved) annual leave but also my contract expired and the secretary apparently wasn't told about the renewal in time to send the new one before I left

I think having elected bodies/officials decide and manage their own elections is also just openly inviting trouble

Monstrous.

"federal agents detained nearly every resident of the 130-unit building—including children and babies—placing them in zip ties and separating them by race into vans for more than two hours early Tuesday morning."

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.
