If it was a WHITE MAN who was previously Dem VP, who supported genocide, and who instead of using their skills,
privilege and platform to fight the fascist leader and violence against Americans was on a BOOK TOUR, I’d say exactly the same.

If I could erase one word from contemporary political discussion, it would be “self-deport.” It implies free choice which is almost never present, and elides the considerable pressure placed on people who end up leaving the country.

My column from Monday. Don’t call it “self-deportation.” Two immigrants living in Alabama were detained despite having no criminal records. They were coerced into leaving the country. It reflects an immigration system whose single goal is creating a class of people outside the law.
