Babysat the thaw of a red bucket last night and this morning. Auntie caught me at the sink just as I was setting up to clean the guts and took over.

There was a small back and forth when she questioned my age AND heritage because she didn’t trust me to clean them. 😏 😊 Good!

There are several good ways to alleviate the odor. That first 30 minute boil water goes down a drain, then it’s just funky pork scent and goes away like after frying food.

We don’t save the buckets but my grandmother made birdfeeders out of them. Real folk art. 😊

It’s a very acquired taste. I strongly agree about trying everything. 😊 I credit my dad (rarely) for this. I grew up with EVERYTHING in the freezer. Chitlin bucket next to squid next to venison. He made a cacciatore…*sighs*with so very many things. 😂😂😂

Well, I smoked too close to the sun and apparently at some point she got up and walked away. Why did she leave her baby with the aux?
