And get SPECIFIC in your descriptions of places and characters. How old is that character? What are they wearing? What does their body language convey? What color are the curtains? Don’t leave your artist guessing

Write a script and then compare the page you’ve written to your favorite comics and see how many panels, speech bubbles and transitions happen on a page

I can’t recommend enough that if you want to become a comic writer, you need to read comics. It’s so tempting to try to shove a wall of text into one page or a ton of scene changes, but that makes it really hard on artists to be able to properly adapt that

My entire education as a student with autism and ADHD is paved with a handful of teachers who had such compassion and encouraged me in my storytelling and art and I’ll always be grateful for them for helping me feel a little less out of place in the American school system

as a neurodivergent & also weird kid school was hell for me, though these days I struggle to remember the names of all the teachers who bullied me. But the three that treated me like a person have never left me. Now more than ever, I hope you all try your best to stay unsquishable!

I genuinely want this place to succeed and I guarantee you many people feel the same way. It has been a genuine breath of fresh air away from the bird app but it requires you to not do things in a vacuum outside of peer review and communication
