I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

If this is a technical limitation (which seems to be the case), fair, that’s understandable! But then T&S needs to update their behavior accordingly understanding that protocol limitation so we don’t muddy the waters more

I think what makes this egregious to me is 1) it still seems heavy-handed even with additional context and 2) this user was hosted on Blacksky, but this Bluesky decision leaves seemingly no way to view his posts on deer.social, etc, which harms the story of the protocol

Just got tagged in a GitHub issue for this patch note I confidently left while doing the Chrome roll 6 months ago, I'm not above a "going apeshit" arc
This patch is purely to unblock nightlies while we merge an upstream fix and allocate additional space on the Mac runners. If this patch is still in main anytime after July 30, 2025, find @VerteDinde and yell at her

Not only does this story get a number of basic facts wrong, it doesn’t take time to actually explore why Portlanders elected these folks. Coming in with a pre-baked PDX story to fit a NYT narrative about NYC is harmful, especially at this moment.
