I think many members of Congress should read the "First they came for..." poem because right now some smugly feel only others will suffer from the military invocation. All expressions of dissent, no matter how small, will be a target of this administration.

They are not planning "a violent crackdown" on 10.18. What they are doing is sending a signal to their shock troops to try to cause havoc. But those shock troops will be vastly outnumbered. Go out and protest freely. Do not be cowed.

Trump wants civil unrest. He wants anarchy. He wants everyone to overreact. Then he’ll claim the country is too unstable to hold elections and declare Marshall Law. It’s disorder as an excuse to hold power. Don’t fall for it. Participate in protest, record everything going on, and spread the word.
