Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

As a historian, I truly like the "foreverized pastness" part of this. And I agree, on a daily basis we are floating towards a permanent establishment of badly manipulated memories. A plural of nonsense histories. #skystorians

So-called #genAI means the abolition of the future through the proliferation of endless streams of stochastically rendered generic pasts. Having turned large parts of the cultural archive into training data, it now traps us in a foreverized pastness, a 24/7 nostalgia for a past that never existed

have just come across a YouTube account that has been using Sora to upload reels of fake, AI-generated “90s sitcoms” every few hours

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Ah yes the "radical left" is why the private equity firm decided to close a bunch of stores to garner higher profit margins, okay Claire's that MUST be it.

NOTICE OF STORE CLOSURE

To Our Valued Customers,

This Claire's location has been permanently closed. The decision reflects both external pressures & internal restructuring. In recent months, repeate repeated attacks of ridicule by radical left agitators have gone beyond mere criticism, escalating into a deliberate effort to destabilize our company - conduct we recognize as Domestic Economic Terrorism.

At the same time, our transition under new private equity ownership required difficult financial choices. Protecting the stability of shareholders was prioritized, & this store - along with its local workforce - was deemed expendable in service of that obligation.

Despite these challenges, Claire's remains committed to our identity as a traditional American company rooted in values of family & community. We will not be silenced by those who attempt to undermine that mission, & we continue to move forward with confidence in our future.

Here at Claire's, we look forward to wo

A searchable works list has been released to identify the authors’ works that were stolen by US Corporation Anthropic, to train its AI models. It includes UK authors whose works were copied without their permission or payment.

And the cleaners, porters, and low-grade admin staff are not included; they're invisible to everyone in this picture because what they do to support teaching, learning, and research is completely taken for granted.

Hi #GenHour - a railway-themed one for tonight!

This Saturday, 27 September, is a high-point in #Railway200: the 200th anniversary of the 1st steam-hauled passenger railway journey, on the Stockton & Darlington Railway.

So: what railway ancestors do you have?

Many media outlets hid the full truth of Trump -- his background in organized crime, his Epstein ties -- out of fear, only to be obliterated by him in the end. Had they not self-censored then, they might not be state-censored now. When you hide the truth, you face the consequences.
