In the 18th century, medical students didn't have enough female cadavers to learn anatomy from. So some industrious artists created "anatomical Venuses" - lifelike waxworks of women with their inner organs all exposed. They had sexy facial expressions, luscious long hair, and wore strands of pearls.

That's all creepy enough. But what if these Venuses were bewitched and came to life at night, armed with blades to destroy the men who wronged them?

That's the premise of SLASHED BEAUTIES, the new horror novel by A. Rushby - who happens to be the guest this week on Vulgar History!

Dropped into #Indigo at the Rideau Centre today. No matter how many books you write, it is a good feeling the first time you see copies on display.

Marie Antoinette was executed more than 200 years ago. This year alone has seen a major museum exhibition, a new animated film, an ongoing TV series and a new biography about her. Why can't we stop talking about Marie Antoinette? My latest podcast investigates: pod.link/1489560920/e...

K-Pop Demon Hunters is legitimately the global cultural phenomenon of 2025 and honestly there are far worse things to be a cultural touchstone this year than a trio of young women fighting literal soul-sucking hegemony through the power of their art

Throughout his life, Benjamin Franklin nursed a not-so-secret desire to annex Canada and make it American.
But he failed, over and over again.
Author Madelaine Drohan has written all about this in her new book, He Did Not Conquer. And she joins us on the podcast to tell all! pod.link/1489560920/e...
